Fuel Sender Wire Location?

Good morning Y'all!  I just replaced the rear section of my 72, new floor, rear tail assembly.  I wasn't able to find my fuel sender wire.  As I'm going back to repairing my taillight harness I started looking for it and the only wire going back to the firewall was my fuel pump wire.  Is the sender "brown" wire part of the tail light harness?  i was going to order a replacement sender wire and it seemed a little short.  I might run a wire direct from the gauge to the sender to cure the problem, but if I can find where the sender wire is coming from, that would be helpful...suggestions?

Nicholas, this diagram is listed for a 71 by Paul Bell. I'm not sure if the 72 is the same but it looks like it should be part of the taillight harness. Good luck

Fuel sending wire should be tan colored.
