  1. Many thanks Scott S. Appreciate the reply. I have stock suspension so will play it safe and go with 245/60/15 tires with the 15X8 rims with 4.5" backspacing front and back.
  2. Good evening, anyone running the 15X8 4.5" backspace size rims on the front and what's the widest tire you can go with? 235/245/255/60/15? Thanks!
  3. Thanks Whons. Thanks for the feedback. Do you have stock rear suspension or lifted/raised? What size tires/rims are you using in the front? I would go with black drums....
  4. Grey 70 Monte Carlo - Many thanks! If your using 255/60/15 with 4.5 BS and no modifications then I think I will do the same in the rear... I assume the drop spindles would limit the tire width you could use in the front so you went with 225 instead of 245 or 255?
  5. Thanks fellow members, looks like two of are you running the 5" BS and one running the 4" BS....anyone running the 4.5" BS and how wide of a tire are using in the back and front? 255/60/15 with 4.5 BS? Thanks!
  6. Many, thanks cny first gen 71...just curious if you or anyone else for that matter have used the those rim sizes (4" BS & 4.5" BS) & 255/60/15 tire sizes and no rubbing or alterations needed? Thanks again!
  7. Hello fellow MC enthusiasts. I've read some of the prior posts on the topic but still left with a question for my specific set up....For a 1970 MC with a 454 with stock suspension... What's the widest tire you can run in rear with without modification, stock suspension with a 15X8 4.5" Backspace Rally Rim? 245/60/15 or 255/60/15 or? And what's the widest tire you can run in the front without modification, stock suspension with a 15X8 4" BS Rally Rim? Many thanks!
  8. I called WEsales.com today and they no longer carry the clip. Anyone know anywhere else that's sells the Rocker clips? Thanks.
  9. Anyone know where you could find the front 1970 Front Fender Fiberoptic lenses for sale? Thanks.
  10. Anyone know where you could find the front Fiberoptic lenses for sale? Thanks.
  11. Thanks Bones....you helped me in another post of mine under the name Body Part ID as well....I had one last question for you from the other post, do you have a pic of the fender braces that attache to the fenders near the hood hinge to down near the body mounts? Thanks, David
  12. Help anyone? Trying to figure out whether to plug the stock vents from the gas tank or what is needed if you use them with the original ECS system? CA Car.... Thanks, David
  13. Rich, So if I went with the original ECS style tank, what does the return line go to and would I also need a Canister in the front of the car? FYI This was a CA car.... David
  14. Jared, Sounds like the best way to go, when you used the 70 non emissions tank did it also have vent lines that you had to plug? Thanks, David
  15. Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all! I'm thinking of replacing my old fuel tank and wondered if there was any point of using the old ECS system? I'm thinking of just capping off the extra vent lines and return line and using a fuel cap with a vent....other than not being original would this be OK to do or would I be running into a gas tank/vent issue...? As always thanks for the help! David
  16. Yeah mine has the seperator and 1/4" return line as well.... I changed the cap and am trying to put some miles on it to see if it happens again.... Thanks for all the assitance! D
  17. Rod, Thanks for the detailed explanation, all very good information. And yeah, I have noticed that the tank felt pressurized a couple of times, but it happened so infrequently that I never really thought much of it...should have done something about it lookin back..... Hey, one last question would uncapping some of lines going from the tank to the seperator or the line from the seperator to the canister help vent the fuel system? Good/bad idea? Or maybe I would start leaking fuel...? Thanks again for all help guys! David
  18. Thanks for the tips and advice guys... To answer some of your questions.... I'm using an 870 Holley Street Avenger Carb....filters look good and Holley claims this Carb has power valves that will not blow out....I'm thinking it's not a carb issue, because I have tried 3 different carbs now and the problem is still there...the lack of power does not happen often, but when it does, it really leaves me wondering what the heck is wrong.... The Gas Tank Cap is not vented, however it does not fit tight either. I'll probably replace it to see if that helps.... Any other ideas? Thanks! David
  19. Hello FGMC! I hope everyone is enjoying there Sunday evening.... So, need a little help...have a 70 SS MC that I'm having some issues with.....the car normally runs pretty good, however there have been a handful of times that the cars feels like there is temporaray loss of power while driving....almost feels like you are running out of gas or have a loose wire, then all of sudden the power comes back....we've ruled out loose wires, carb, timing and now we're brainstorming......one friend suggested vapor lock, however I don't have a lot of experience with VL...any ideas on how to confirm if this is the problem? And last, when the gas tank was cleaned and leak-checked during the rebuild of the car a couple of gas return lines were plugged....I was told we did not need these lines since the car was no longer stock and would no longer be required to meet CA smog emissoin requirements....I think one of the lines may have gone to the charcoal canister, but I'm not certain....so, long story short, could the lack of a good gas tank vent be the source of vapor lock or loss of power? Let me knwo what you guys think....and many thanks as always!!! David
  20. Hello Everyone, Capri thanks for the e-mail, while I'm sorry you went through the same headaches I'm going through, it's good to know I'm not going crazy, I was starting to wonder... ;0) To summarize for the rest of the members, Capri went back to the original Springs and added a Shim/Spacer....which again makes me think Moog has a problem with the Front Springs for the 70 & 71 SS 454 MC.... Other than going back to the original Springs (which I no longer have) or getting the QA1 Coil Over Springs/Shocks which are considerably more $, I'm not sure what to do....frustrating... David
  21. Thanks Bones, just sent Capri SS an email... David
  22. Bones, I already tried 3/4" spacers/shims and still had a problem...so I took the Springs out and now I'm debating on putting the 71 SS 454 Moog Springs P/N 5536 in....or ditch Moog and try another Spring manufacturer....thought I would ask you guys first since I'm sure other members have run into similar problems... D
  23. I brought the question up because I bought a pair of 70 SS 454 Springs, Moog P/N 6330 and wasn't very happy with the ride height...eventually I was told the 71 SS 454 had a different Spring which makes me think there is a P/N problem with 70 454 Moog Spring...I'm still not sure what to think about the Springs...the 70 454 Moog spring just doesn't seem to be doing the job...25 1/2" in the Front...to low for me... Do you think I should move this post to the Suspension section? Thanks, David
  24. Hello everyone, Moog is telling me they sell a different Front Coil Spring for the 70 & 71 SS 454 Monte Carlo. Does this seem odd to anyone? Aren't the frames, suspension and body shells the same? Wouldn't you think the Springs should be the same? Just curious what you guys think? 70 SS 454 - Moog P/N 6330 71 SS 454 - Moog P/N 5536 David
  25. Bones, Just out of curiousity, what type of radiator (brass, aluminum, 4 row?) and what electric fan set up are you using? I'm using a brass 4 row in the Texas 100 degree heat and it just ain't working... David
