Thanks, I love "OLD GM IRON" Probably have a dozen more if I had room. I do have a list, where there's a will there's a way, lol. Peace.

Greetings fellow enthusiasts Thought it's time to update my fall "Tinkering" post. Since no "work for beer" applicants applied I and son were left with the tinkering tasks of our crazy fleet. Top to bottom: '85 shorty. Father wasn't gifted with son's aviation hands to loosen the alternator bolt that GM engineers built the truck around, this is and always will be a re occurring theme. The 442 is getting sniff test, rich carb. That gentleman testing is a well known C1&2 Corvette FI expert. Larry rebuilds units for folks around the country. His first new car was a '57 FI that started his long history in Chevrolet high performance. He drove and crewed for a local dealership that owned three Cheetas , one was raced, one was wrecked and one was driven by the dealers wife. Only 23 were produced to compete with the then new Ford Cobra. Had to show the original interior of my '63. As always this reliable sweetheart needed only an oil change and air in the tires. The '70 Vert, like I already stated had a bad heater core after a performance test drive. We have had a reoccurring issue with the 455 overheating. After my son's research, finally found a real solution. Check out "Cold Case" radiators. Huge aluminium radiator with two built in electric fans that click on via sensor @190. This hides beneath the factory shroud and after a 200 mile drive worked flawless. The '58 Cameo needed king pins, MOOG kit was seamless after fighting out the crusty ones. Before and after with the red neck resto. The Monte was "all done", LMAO, until I decided the windows were slow as molasses. Pulled three panels apart and finally got the puzzle back together. If any one has a black door pull they would be so kind to sell, it would make this challenged member a happy man. Thank you for allowing me to share, have other projects on others I will share in the future. Gonna enjoy the cars and the Lake. Happy Summer friends

It occurred to me that many of you were amused by my dueling hoods post as you can see, 4 hoods are open and I thought I’d share each one’s ailment. ‘58 Cameo king pens and over drive. ‘70 442 Vert. We took out for a test drive and after installing new QJet and smoothing out rear tires, heater core blew! ‘70 442 coupe rich carb after leak down test rejetting in progress. ‘70 SS Monte new Delco Remy starter made in Detroit (must have been on a Monday morning) solenoid failure. -waiting in the wings- Corvette headlight motor ‘72 K10 exhaust manifold gaskets ’92 Blazer Camshaft replacement … and a couple others! Winter has been extended 12 months. Accepting applications for qualified mechanic helper who will work 4 beer. Happy Thanksgiving! p.s. the only one with the hood closed in winter hibernation is my faithful ‘63 Impala SS. Bought it off a classified add in the newspaper 25 years ago last tuneup 20 years. Never fails! Yes I am sick.

Dueling Hoods Preparing for Winter Slumber
skinnerhound replied to skinnerhound's topic in General 70-72 Monte Carlo Forum
For all the "Orphans" sorry, no room at the inn, lol. They are nice to look at but we all know fifty plus year old vehicles require tinkering, money and a lot of time. Believe it or not there are a couple of Vettes and several flavors of Chevrolet trucks not shown. I really like them all to be road worthy but as you can see by my '67 SS Rag, I'm failing in that mission. All of those hoods will be open at some point this winter, thankfully I have a Son that is a hell of a lot smarter than his Dad. Peace. -

Thank you and others for your kind words. I sold my first car, a 1959 Vette which I bought at age sixteen for $1500. The guy who bought it forty years ago still owns it to this day. That was the only one I let go in order to help with the purchase of my first home. My son shares my passion and was raised around cars and their maintenance. He is an A/P for a major airline and has excellent skills, especially crawling under cars, lol. -

Thank you. I love all cars , it's a sickness. I enjoy bringing them back around as were these that needed some love. These three were very solid cars without rust. The Impala still has the factory red oxide primer on the floors. The 442 was a Fremont CA build which I found the build sheet when replacing the tank when it had been sitting in a garage for twenty five years. It still retains the original vinyl top, one repaint. The Monte SS was bought in Scottsdale AZ, I have the protecto and the build sheet which I have posted previously, never any rust and all original metal. I also have a '58 Cameo and several other Chevy trucks and a couple Vettes. My two remaining builds are the '72 Vista with a W25 hood and my '67 SS/RS Camaro rag that I replaced all GM metal over the counter in the early 1990's when quarters were $239. I still want a '66 442 post and a '70 442 rag. Need more garage space, lol. Peace -
I thought since we all speak "Bow Tie" members would be interested in these dealership wallboards. I found these in a dissolved Chevrolet dealership that was in business from 1917 to 1973. These were common in GM showrooms from the 1950's through the 1980's. They are 4'X5' and are a great garage display. Recently discovered the 1970 Monte Carlo one that I have yet to frame. My buddy had first pick and got all of the good Corvette, Camaro and Chevelle one's of the 1960's. Cheers.

This '70 Monte SS found me, I wasn't looking lol. My NCRS buddy went to look at a '65 C2 396 that was part of a large private collection which the owner sadly passed. The Monte was sitting in his showroom which immediately triggered memories of my Jr High teachers new 71. I have always loved Chevys since my Mom came home with her new 1969 Camaro RS Hugger Orange Convt. I finally was able to buy a '67 RS/SS Convt. in the late 80's which I have yet to finish restoration. I knew the Monte was rare being an SS454 so I made an offer and trailered it home. Previous owner had purchased it from the original owner in Scottsdale AZ. The car was bought new at Madisons Chev Scottsdale, which was bought by Ray Korte Chev . The Monte had a lot of restoration done but the interior was completely gutted. It's taken some time to get it back together but I'm happy with the results. Legendary Interiors rock. The LS5 was bored and stroked, forged pistons, 850 QJet, high output ignition, it's a beast. Sadly the air tank is gone, maybe another future project. All my cars and trucks are drivers and this one is no exception, not perfect, just to enjoy. I restored my '63 Impala SS twenty five years ago. It's a 327 4spd. factory air AM/FM car. We use to have a great National Late Great club which I atttended many regional and one International meet. I also have a '70 Olds 442 and a '72 Vista. 58 Cameo. 72 Cheyenne, '85 Silverado Square Shorty. I love them all but the garages are full. Thanks for this great group, enjoy the information, knowledge, and light hearted posts.Cheers
