  1. by jumping the switches it runs cold. Now finding the 2 a/c switch. Those 2 switches have points on them. Thanks for help.Finding someone that knows the old stuff is getting rare.We are all getting old.Just glad I bought this car new ii 71 and still drive it.
  2. I put the 2 toggle switch in for test and the wires didn't get hot at all.Going to a friends house this morning he has a pile of Monte parts. He has a control hsg with the 2 switchs in it.Will try them.Leaving dash pad off for now. Thanks for help.
  3. after more checking both of the switches that control the compressor and fan seem to be where things are hot so today I will put 2 toggle switches and seem if they get hot enough to burn.I'm just trying to get the wires to stop getting hot that they melt.I know you can't get those switchs anywhere. They mount on the heater and a/c control. Thanks for help.
  4. The compressor switch will not cut the compressor on.I can jump the 2 wires and compressor will run all the time. Can you get that switch or how to bypass.Almost ready to rip all the factory out and put a Vintage air in.
  5. Still having trouble with a wire getting hot on the compressor switch on the housing. It is the wire that is tan/light green. But the 2 relays on top of the glove box are causing me trouble.I have jumped themm before but now I can't get the compressor to kick in.If I plug both in sometimes it will engage with the key on and not the a/c control.1 is the anti dieseling .I tried to jump the tan wire with the light blue but the compressor will not engage. This is about to drive me crazy,Thanks for any help
  6. yes I replaced both relay and resistor and fan switch along with the blower motor.I will keep checking Thanks
  7. I have replaced the fan switch because it melted when it caught fire. Will go through it again. Will drive with no a/c till I fix it.Thanks
  8. It is the master switch that get not real hot but you can feel it.It is the one that caught fire and the fan switch also ,Had to pour water on it to get fire out.Melted the upper a/c vent. The original wiring harness.I pulled it out when I did the frame off and rewrapped it but I guess it could ne too old like me.Almost to the point to change to a Vintage Air unit. Thanks for comments
  9. I have replaced both resistors. The brown wire is the one getting warm and one of the switch wires is also,Thanks
  10. On my A/C switch behind radio the power wire and some of the fan switch are getting hot to touch.Already had a small fire there a year or so.Have changed blower motor and switch. And it still get hot so can;\'t run a/c.Haven't been able to work on it because of moving in the last year. But are getting back at it.Any sugesstion on what to do,Thanks.
