  1. I appreciate the help everyone. Thanks to this group I was able to get it figured out. 😀
  2. Hi, I’m looking for some help. I recently purchased a 1970 Monte Carlo and I’m unable to tell if this is a 02C(February week 3) or 12C(December week 3) build date. Based on the FL2145413 production number would it most likely be February or December? I circled the area on this trim tag photo to help with what I’m trying to figure out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays.
  3. Update: I appreciate everyone’s input, and my mindset is with the majority. I’d prefer to find one already converted. I’ve been actively searching for the last couple of years. I’m not getting any younger here. After realizing that the chances of me finding one may not be realistic I decided to buy a donor car and have my car converted. I agree, that I should not cut an SS, so I won’t do that. Thanks to this awesome community for helping me realize that. I will keep mine just the way it is. Hopefully I can find one already converted one day and just be done with it. Otherwise, if I find a shop to do the conversion I will buy a non-SS 70 MC to have done.
  4. @Canuck I’m interested in buying the one for $50,000. Do you have the contact information for the seller?
  5. I know a lot of people are against this, but I really want to make my 1970 Monte Carlo SS a convertible. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time now. I think they look great when done correctly. Not to mention it even has the convertible top operation in the owner’s manual. Does anybody know of a shop that can do this in the Arizona or California area? I bought a 1971 Cutlass convertible as a donor car already.
  6. Michael Boyte, thank you. Yes it only energizes when the headlight switch is on. 😊
  7. Thanks for all the help. I just ended up running a fused wire to the lamp tab in the fuse box. This was a shortcut way to address my issue. The console bulbs work appropriately now.
  8. Dtret yes, I tried with the key on and off and with the lights on and off.
  9. I wire brushed the ground very good. I used it to test other wires and it was fine. I have a good ground, but no power to the grey wires on the harness.
  10. I’m only getting power to the dark green wire at the harness. I need power to the grey wires. Those are the ones that feed the power to the light bulbs. Can I just tap a wire directly from the fuse box to the grey wires for the lights to have power? Maybe the 20A taillight fuse? Then when I turn the lights on that should trigger the bulbs to come on as well…Thoughts?
  11. Thanks Willie, I will check that as well. I appreciate your help.
  12. Thanks Willie, I will check that as well. I appreciate your help.
  13. 420ponies, thanks. Yes, my dash lights work. I’ll check to make sure it’s grounded
  14. Hi, I am new to this forum. My name is Tyler Thomas and I have a 1970 Monte Carlo SS. There are two light bulbs inside my console which aren’t getting power. I used my test light on the grey and black wires leading to the bulbs and there was no power. I also turned on my headlights and tried again….Nothing….I checked all of my fuses and they were good as well. Any suggestions on what I should do? Does anyone know which fuse only turns on when the headlights turn on? If so, I can probably just tap into that fuse
