I had that problem once except the Harmonic Balancer made more of a erratic clicking sound. It had slightly loosened and once Torqued down, the clicking went away.....

The Seat Belt Warning Light was Legislated but not required until Jan. 1972. My 72 has a Build Date of Dec. 13, 1971 and does not have the Seat Belt Warning Light Lens, but was wired for it under the Dash. So anything Built after Jan. 1, 1972 required the Seat Belt Warning Light. Doug

That sounds like fun Aaron but as I was reading your post, I realized that my Passport had expired a couple months ago as I looked at the expiration date. With all of the chaos I was dealing with, I forgot to apply for a new one. I can't get it replaced quick enough for this Event. These days it seems like it's always something and by age, I'm getting behind the Ball instead of ahead of it. You enjoy the Time and trust the weather is cooperative for all who attended. I did one show locally this year & received a 1st Place Trophy for years 70 thru 79 which kinda shocked me as I hadn't spent hardly anytime prepping for the Show. In fact, just recently put my radio back in that had been out for a tune up 18 months prior. That's about what I have spent time on the car this year. Doug -
Hey all, put my Reconditioned radio back in yesterday & also replaced my Windshield Washer Pump. Another issue I have been dealing with is "When I turn on my Headlights to Parking and or Headlights" I experience a Short that is prominent in the Turn Signal Switch Dash Lighting. Here is what I think it is, when Headlight Switch in Parking or in Headlight Illumination position is turned on and in to Low lighting, Turn Signals operate appropriately, but in either Headlight or Parking Light mode that changes when I turn up lighting from low to High. While rolling the Headlight knob toward high, I feel a noticeable snag briefly and immediately the turn signal indicators both illuminate and brighten as I continue increasing lighting and back to normal once I roll back illumination at that point of resistance in the headlight switch. Now, when I operate the Turn Signals on Low Lighting, everything works appropriately, but as I increase Lighting at that resistance Both Turn Signal Lights Illuminate and the Directional Signal Flashes opposite of Signal Indicator position and repeats when Directional Signal is moved in opposite side. I believe even though the Dash Lights indicate Dash Indicator is opposite of intended direction, outside the Turn Signals are reading correctly. Now given that Lengthy explanation, doesn't that Feel like a Faulty Headlight Switch at the Illumination? Anyone else have this experience and what was your Solution to repair? I've read about the 7 or 8 pin switch & doesn't matter so I think I'm good there but is a specific brand Preferred vs. the others? I'm pretty confident it's the Headlight Switch after performing these tests.... As long as I leave the Dash Lighting on Low in Parking Light or Headlight position, there are no issues and can operate it that way but hard to read gauges when Dark... Appreciate your thoughts..... I had a 69 Chev P.U. that when I gave it gas under load, the engine kept dying. After considerable investigation discovered a plastic like bread tie between fuel and Carb Fuel Filter that would choke off fuel. Crazy how it got from fuel tank to Carb. Doug

Right out of the Military I bought new a 1972 Plymouth 340 Duster. It had Bucket Sets, a Full Synchro 3 sp. on the floor and it was fast! I told everyone I bought a motor surrounded by Beer Cans! Ran the crap out of it and then sold it! Doug

Did adding the SS in the Heading elevate it $30,000.00? In the Description, no reference to SS which was smart as I see nothing on the car suggesting it being an SS! Guess it was just the suggestion in the heading? And No Center Console! Doug

Turn Signal Directional problem
72-CLASSIC_RIDE replied to 72-CLASSIC_RIDE's topic in Electrical Tech
Am going to play with it some tomorrow and will attempt what you suggested and this time I will try to be more observant. Thanx for the suggestion Jason...... I know this issue has been tossed around every few months or so but didn't find a similar problem while searching. I had followed this issue in past submissions but when you get past 70, the memory tends to follow a different path.... Doug -
Okay, got into the car the other day and drove it. Found that when I turn on the Headlight Switch to Park Lights, when signaling Left the arrow lights on the right indicator and visa versa on the Right to the left indicator & Instrument lights dim also if I turn all the way for Interior Lighting. Not dark enough to tell if dimming occurs while increasing Dash Lighting or just if Interior lighting is on. But, if I dim down Instrument lighting all the way, that turn signal indicator shifts back to correct Indicator. This is what I know! All lighting on exterior performs as it should (Brakes, Turn Signals, Park Lights) & hadn't tried the Headlights for any dimming but do come on as expected. While the interior turn signals indicate incorrectly, the exterior turn signals work on their correct sides? I hadn't performed any maintenance so not sure what occurred. It appears to be a Ground Problem and Only occurs when the Park Lights are activated. I believe the only ground for Instrumentation lights is the one Ground attached to the back side of the headlight switch? I believe there are (4) places on the Ribbon for grounds but not for the Dash Lights. Any thoughts? Doug
