    Steve's Monte

Thanks guys. Been waiting 3 years for this to happen. Feels sooo good. I do have the toe board replacements to go in, once I'm happy with the floor. One step at a time.

    Steve's Monte

Started this thread as a carry over from back at it. Been taking my time but moving forward. Got the last piece of the old floor, quarter panel braces out. Patched the inner rockers. Did more of my auto topsy in the trunk and tail pan. I knew it was going to be bad, had already bought patch panels, trunk braces and trunk drop downs. I'll have to make panels for the tail. Spend sometime this weekend getting the new floor in. Still have work to do fine toning it then I'll weld it in place. Can't believe its in.
  3. Sorry to say it guys, the car's really green not black.
  4. At a show here in oshawa two first gens. Both 72's. Green one is a club member, name is Ron. If my memory is correct. Didn't meet the owner of the other one. Second biggest show here, right behind autofest. Always a great turn out of cars. Something for everyone.

    Back at it

Bought the floor pan with all the braces welded in. Remind myself every day to take it easy. My wife Mona says I have to. She's not done with me yet.

    Back at it

It's been 10 weeks since my heart attack. Past my stress test, blood work all normal. Will be going back to work in 2 weeks. Started to clean the rear end. Have the floor cut out. Bits of bracing removed. Inner rockers cleaned up. Next onto the toe board area. Then put in patches to prep for the new floor. Been waiting along time for this. Feels good
  8. Thank you everyone. Feeling better every day. Putting together a plan that works for everyone.
  9. Thanks guys. Right now my car body is sitting on a cart waiting for the new floor. I've spent years collecting parts and was ready to get going. Then I started having back issuses. Turns out my L4 and L5 are shot. Took a year and half to sort it out. I was really looking forward to this spring to get back at it. Then wednesday the 19th I had a heart attack. Not a big one but still a heart attack. Thursday they put in a stent. Friday I came home. Now I'm sidelined again. When my nephews found out they both have step up to build my car for all the things I've done for them since their dad passed. I know my brother would be so proud of his boys. Now I'll teach them everything I know as we go along. Even my neighour is in. Said its for all the tools and advise I've given him to build his 80 firebird.I'm not only lucky to be alive but blessed to have people like this in my life Gs
  10. My plate is year of make
  11. Brendan you can paint the roof and put the trim back. Like the two tone cars. Saw this one while out for a walk .
  12. Wow what a change. Coming along nicely. Looking forward to seeing it when your done. Keep the pics coming.
  13. It looks like 70 chevelle seat covers.
  14. Brendan like you I had limited knowledge and skills for metal fab and bodywork. Luckily for me there's a trades college not to far from where I live, that offers a 1 year part-time autobody coarse. Signed up and surprised myself, I really enjoy doing it. Finished the coarse with a grade of 96. Tied for highest mark in class. 0ldest person in class (58 at the time). Maybe there's something like that around your area. Never worked with fiberglass before so very interested in following .
  15. Just wanted a price. Doing a cowl hood is way, way far away. By then I'll have done so much fab and welding, I should be able to make my own.
  16. There is a repop cowl hood. Comes in both functional and non-fuctional. Closes place to me here in ontario wants $ 1700 (canadian) not including tax or shipping.
  17. Was out walking yesterday with my wife Mona, came across a little show and shine at the senior's residence just up the road from our house. About a dozen cars. The first one I noticed is a '72 green Monte Carlo. Went around looking at the other cars, saving the Monte until last. Beautiful car, small block, bucket seats, console. The owner came up and we started to chat. I was ready to put on my salesmen hat and promote the great club we have. Turns out he's already a member, first one I've met in person. Funny thing we both live here in Oshawa, both own green cars and are named Rob. I know, no pictures, didn't happen. So here she is.
  18. Bob Someone has added grand prix door handles. Seen the thead, just can't remember the title. Someone with better memory will chime in.
  19. Thanks for the fast reply. Just waiting on the seller to get back to me.
  20. Looking at a fitech efi. It comes with the 350 motor it's set up for. If I want it. The block number is 10066038. 92 ish 4 bolt main, made in mexico. Don't know much about motors . Can I use parts from the 350 I have now. Original 70 010 block late model heads. Has comp cam and roller rockers ( needs bottom end rebuilt ). Yes I know its a no brainer. Efi and motor delivered for cost of the efi. Thanks
  21. Thanks for your input James . Yes I'm doing a body off, have been taking pictures. Should have taken more. Spent the last three years putting together parts (still buying) and now its go time. I'm thinking of doing a thread for my build. There isn't going to be much left of the original car. But to make it right, it has to be done.
  22. It's a one piece pan with floor braces. Plan to add support bracing . Side to side, front to back and criss cross. Thanks for the advice. If anyone has more tips or tricks, always looking for ways to make things go better.
  23. Thanks Ron. As soon as we get warmer weather, I'll be back in the garage prepping to cut out the old floor.
  24. I've been guardian of Steve's monte for 5 years. Been in the family for 14 years. Both my brothers owned it. Was bought off kijiji I believe. Steve 2008-2016. Glen 2016-2017. Myself 2017-present.
  25. Morning Still looking for any advise. Found a post from tommyss454, pictures help. Thanks Robert
