  2. thank you Sam,I thought so.If any one has a cheap set Iam interested
  3. Are the upper and lower control arms the same from a Chevelle to a Monte Carlo or are they different?I am going to pull a 12 bolt out of a 72 Monte, and replace with a 10 bolt to sell the car as a roller.I have the rear end to replace it with but need the arms to stay with the 12 bolt and am going to try to find a cheap set for the 10 bolt to replace it in the roller.A friend says he may have a set from a 71-72 Chevelle. Also does any one here have a cheap set they want to get rid of.Dont have to be nice, just solid enough to hold it in Thanks Mike
  4. Thanks Pat(First Knight) the emblem was in beautiful shape, good deal
  5. Thanks Pat,was a pleasure to talk to you also. You remind me of my friend John from Talladega, always friendly, southern hospitality at its finest.Something that is rare here in the north. Thanks again Pat

  7. I have a 402 engine,4 core radiator,2'' id at the water pump,1 3/4 at the radiator does any one know the gates hose # for that set up.I ordered one from the local parts store, not even close...Thanks,Mike
  8. I was getting a bit worried as I had tried several others I had here and was running into similar results.I thought I was going to have to get away from the long shaft 400.Its fresh rebuilt and I also spent $200. to get the drive shaft made for it.Any way its going to work out o.k.
  9. I had to bend the bell crank rod about 1/4'' and it works great...Mike
  10. I figured it out last night,I think. When I bought the car it had a metric 200 and a 305 from a 79 Monte in it,I pulled it and installed a 402 with the 400 turbo.I think for what ever reason they slightly bent the bell crank assembly a touch.I got one off of a friends '72 Chevelle and laid them side to side,I had to bend mine inward about 1/4 inch, shifts great now....Mike
  11. I will try to change the bracket tonight, but this is a mechanical linkage,no cables...Thanks,will try that
  12. We have tried to adjust the rod on the column and can't seem to get anywhere with it,thats what is baffling me,it just don't seem to do anything....
  13. I have asked this question in another part of the forums, hoping some one has the answer. Here is my problem. The car was a 350 turbo, changed to a 400 long shaft from an Impala.both cars were column shift.I drove the Impala before the change and all worked well.If I shift the trans manually from below it shifts into each gear, when I install the linkage and bell crank,it clicks from park to reverse solidly, but to neutral it just fall loosely, then into drive it clicks,2nd solidly and that is as far as it will shift, cannot pull it into low,it just wont go any farther. Is there a difference it the shift rod between a 350 and a 400?I have a parts car that was a 350 trans also, tried the whole set up from that car with the same results,I'm baffled Thanks....Mike I have tried to adjust it from both park position and from low position and get the same results.
  14. Is it possible that the linkage rod from the column to the bell crank is different from a turbo 350 to a 400?
  15. I measured the C-shaped linkage bracket on the trans last night and it is the same, also tried adjusting it in all gears with the same results.I know the trans shifted fine before as I drove the Impala home when I bought the car for the engine and trans.I'm kind of baffled here, just cant figure out whats going on for sure....
  16. I tried that and no work.Heres what I have maybe some one has an idea. The trans is a long shaft turbo 400 out of an Impala, with out the linkage attached it shifts(clicks solidly into all gears)the car originally was a 350 turbo and has the 3 speed indicator.when I install the rod and linkage to the trans it clicks from park to reverse but kind of slips right into neutral, then it clicks to drive and clicks to second, but will not pull any further into low, kind of stops at second tight.I did go take the linkage off of my 72 parts car and it is exactly the same and does the same thing.I have the linkage from the Impala, but the rod is bent almost opposite of the Monte and hits the fire wall as soon as it reached reverse, also the rod from the frame to the trans is 4-5'' longer because of the with of the B body.Any one have any ideas....HELP Please
  17. I just installed a turbo 400,it doesn't seem to shift into all positions correctly. This is from a stationary position, parked. It is a column shift car. When I pull it from park to reverse, its a positive click,to neutral, just slides in like nothing,no click, then click into drive, click into 2nd,and then stops, won't pull down into low.Is there a certian position to have the trans in before adjusting the slip nut on the rod from the steering column, any help appreciated Mike
  18. This is the wide rubber seal just in front of the door hinges, goes from the top of the cowl to the bottom of the door.Whats it called and does any one make one,it seems to be one of those pieces I cant seem to locate..Help me,thanks Mike

  22. I hear you there Larry,it has been 30+ years since I did this type of project.I knew that there would be much more than I anticipated in this project, but it seems each thing I touch 4 more need attention. That is what is so great about this forum,no mater what I plan some one here has done it before and is willing to help.....Mike
  23. The small block was an A/C so I am guessing the 4 core will fit,I have read about the differences in the shroud,as of right now to get it going I have an electric fan set up but once I get going I will have to find a BB shroud.I am at this point just trying to get all my ducks in a row so that when I get to putting things together I am ready and not going to find many suprizes.I do have the top support from the 4 core,it was in an Impala, looks like it will work, again thanks for your input....Mike
  24. Thank you for the heads up on Summit, never even thought to look there, ordered them along with new H-series rod and main bearings for my 402....Mike
  25. Will the core support from a small block car except a 4 core radiator from a big block car? Also does anyone know where to get the rubber supports for the radiator? Thanks,Mike
