Murphy Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Noticed the driveshaft on my 71 SBC355 w/TH350, has a large round device at the front of the driveshift where the yolk attaches to the tranny. Is this a balancer or what is it? Is it needed due to the length of the shaft? Just curious.... Quote
Murphy Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Was this used due to the length of the shaft? Quote
Sam (Bones) Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 who knows, I know I don't have one now and my 4 speed didn't have one Quote
montefrazer Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Was this used due to the length of the shaft? No, same length shaft as a Chevelle. Just something GM thought would give their new luxury car a nicer ride. Same idea as the rubber frame mounts on the tranny cross member. Quote
footballubet Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Mine had one too. With switching to the 700R4 the driveshaft I used did not have one. Can I tell the difference? Not really. Quote
