Vaughn Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Just catching up on your thread Dan. So sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, my thoughts are with you and your family. overdrive Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 Thank you, Vaughn. I've seen some of your work that you've posted. Your attention to the details is great and your cars are beautiful. Hopefully, you'll post more pics sometime for us. I loaded up the frame this morning and took it to Quincy. I picked up the freshly powder coated bumper brackets and they'll being doing the frame, the radiator support and a couple more brackets next week. I asked for clear powder on the front sway bar, but they used gloss instead of satin. The guy said he'll redo it for free. Dan Quote
overdrive Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Ordered a stainless gas tank and it came in today. I checked all the dimensions against the original. It looks like great quality. Dan Quote
overdrive Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 I got the frame blasted and powder coated for $275. It came out great and was well worth the money. Dan 1 Quote
orbit Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Dan Fabulous work on the monte. Your work and parts looks outstanding. Keep up the good work and the pictures. Joe Quote
LostnFound Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 That frame looks great Dan. And $275? It costs about $800 up here. 1 Quote
orbit Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Wow that does look good Dan. Mine is will be 650 to blast and put in prime than I will paint it. Hope it looks as good as yours. Joe Quote
overdrive Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Thanks guys. The guy quoted me $300-$400 for the frame a year ago, when I first met him. I had him do all the suspension and other parts first and he gave me a little break on the frame.I've put stainless fuel and brake lines on it and set it aside for now.I've been getting more parts, lately. The turn signals from The Parts Place look great. I laid out some of them for pics.Dan 1 Quote
MC-71 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Nice. Looks like you bought gifts for yourself. I have a question on your Stainless Steel Fuel Tank. Did you check the length of the fill tube against your old tank fill tube? I bought mine when they first came out and ended up with a Chevelle tank. The Chevelle fill is shorter. I ended up fixing it by using my Monte Fill Tube. Carl Quote
overdrive Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 Yes, I checked every dimension on the tank against the original and everything is the same, including the filler neck. Dan Quote
willie Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Dan, I just caught up, Thoughts and prayers for you and yours. Car looks fantastic!!! You do great work and the cars prove it. Quote

overdrive Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Thanks guys. I haven't had very much time for the car lately, but I have done some more block sanding and ordered a few more parts. I hope to have everything ready for the final coat of primer soon. I have stainless headers from American Racing Headers ordered. They should be here in a couple more days. Dan 1 Quote
overdrive Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 The headers arrived today. A quick clearance check on the motor looks good. They look to be great quality. The flanges are 3/8". Dan Quote
overdrive Posted March 11, 2016 Author Posted March 11, 2016 Thanks Tim. The Magnaflow stainless exhaust was delivered today and the Freak Show torque converter came last week. Christmas in March. Dan 1 Quote
71MonteCarloMD Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Dan, that's looks very nice, where did you order from as I may need to replace mine as its leaking very slow on bottom? Rick Quote
overdrive Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 Thanks guys. The radiator was on ebay. Sold by Auto City Classic. Dan Quote
overdrive Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 The original torque converter went bad and caused several problems. I had to rebuild the transmission again. It's ready to be bolted up to the motor, along with the new Freak Show Performance converter. Dan 1 Quote
overdrive Posted June 11, 2016 Author Posted June 11, 2016 Thank you, Joe. I took a day off work yesterday and took the SS to town to a friend's paint booth and masked off the body. I shot a few more coats of primer surfacer on everything this morning and hauled it all back home. It's ready for more block sanding now. His dry air system is better than mine and it's pretty humid now. Baby steps. Dan 1 Quote
