The 4th Gen SS was my first love (thanks Earnhardt!). I had an Aerocoupe back in the day and sold it to buy my 72. Came across my 85 around 10 years ago and HAD to buy it. 49k miles, untouched all original and the guy was selling it for 3100.00. I never drove faster to the bank in my life! LOL!

I don’t blame you a bit. Great looking cars. I know a guy that has an 83 SS with 3100 miles on it. He keeps talking about selling it but he won’t ever let it go. Has not moved in 15 years. Started probably 5 times at most. I bet you wish you still had the aerocoupe. Have you looked at the price of them lately?  WOW.

Sanding....sanding....sanding....

started with 800 and progressed to 2000. Wet sanding.

wet the piece, sand with flat stick, wipe with wet towel. Dump water, rinse bucket & towel well.

repeat about 300 times

actually finished sanding today. Polishing tomorrow. Then bumpers, chrome & mirrors etc

I did some sanding today too.  Taking the roof down to bare metal, using 40 grit. I just put Raptor liner on the under side Tuesday. Thought it would be a good idea to do the roof while the Monte is still on the rotisserie, before putting the body back on the frame.

To the person above painting parts separately,  I hope they don't turn out different shades when it's assembled

Not sure if it stands for anything or has any significance.69409CD3-749D-495F-A235-53FCB4E42D20.thumb.jpeg.d8eea1138b7afe4e9dba1b28385b7da1.jpeg69409CD3-749D-495F-A235-53FCB4E42D20.thumb.jpeg.d8eea1138b7afe4e9dba1b28385b7da1.jpeg

I was also thinking it is an N too.

Looks like you need a little weld repair on one of them.

When I blasted mine it was on there also. Possibly a machinist’s logo. Like a signed piece of art. Lol.

A new mystery for the books. Turn guard sideways it’s an N. But from bottom to top,  upright , it’s a Z. And yep Rob. Looks like something bigger than a gravel hit the passenger side one ..the asphalt at the dragstrip maybe ?:).. just kidding 😂

The more I look at it, It forms a better N than z .. you guys are right.
