Can't remember where I saw the comments on what works for painting manifolds … I used this stuff and it has worked well so far for about 8 thousand miles… Mine were rusty and ugly… Now they are dark grey and have a nice patina…

Changed the oil, lubed and filter… good for 192,621 mile mark… Added Lucas zinc additive. I'm a believer in Lucas products.image.jpeg.5b5d976ff2eb07951cb266bb13d17e4b.jpeg

Went to the Auto Hobby Shop Beale AFB for oil change … Great service, Two full-time mechanics on duty , always there to help and advise…   They have about 12 bays with a full tool box for every bay. You can pull the engine or any repairs you need … They will do the work for a very fair hourly fee or you can do it yourself for the basic $5 an hour bay fee.  I believe they have a weekly rate based on a 40 hour week… Back in the 70's they had a great paint booth…

Great place to hang out with my dog..

What a great concept! I wish we had something like this in my area.

We have a business like this about 5 miles from me. I have never used them but if I had to do major work, like a transmission it sure beats laying on the ground.

Started working on the electric fan conversion, got the direct drive fan and shroud out of the way, and the fan shroud cut out, going to a friends house this weekend with a brake to get it bent up before welding. Also started doing some measuring on my heads for the 496 I’m putting together. Oh and removed the 7/16ths knurled wheel studs and got the 1/2 inches screw in studs in!1FB1B457-AD82-4032-9F4B-AFA9743E8AF4.thumb.jpeg.e12a1e67612e333bac493312b4ea121a.jpegD66E093A-FD60-4026-8336-908AD2468C9F.thumb.jpeg.87475407f004df381f8249ae003c35dd.jpegE6047C94-29C7-485F-8AF9-EEB92BB1EF5F.thumb.jpeg.5fe799326ccbe336c06777a5746a6dd6.jpeg5B664818-B7B9-40C6-9AF3-AC0CBB7898F6.thumb.jpeg.3ea9e5e96c03941eaac1162bf9dc6758.jpegC7EF706E-7B66-47D3-B43D-884DF2E81E98.thumb.jpeg.21b943298620a4886440d07a617a5b90.jpeg

Found LED conversion kit in new products for Monties forum that was started by Rob a while back. Received them today and installed. Only took 3 days to get the bulb socket 3 wire kit but 2 week to receive the conversion kit.. the 3 wire plug allowed me to install the LED kit without removing bulb sockets from the taillights.. ordered both from eBay. I have part numbers and the 3 wire color code change if anyone needs or interested.. I must say, I’m very pleased with the new brighter rapid fire taillights... 4B64A028-F4A5-4C84-9685-A423C0D59A20.thumb.jpeg.e4bebac311f5d7e322f1551ae73f2c5f.jpegC5065B30-3A9F-4D1B-9AFF-8EE7359B2353.thumb.jpeg.c0f88971bbe94f311f5804c2f48bf3b8.jpeg1684B96F-AF7B-4FC3-BE4E-1D086B1C2D50.thumb.jpeg.2900c6f8b2490cfadc73b775cca557bd.jpeg

Nr 4 is low on compression,,,, 55lbs … All other Cylinders checked in at 175 to 180..

5000 miles on rebuild .. All plugs look perfect…nr 4 plug looked like the others .. not burn problem..

I am using an HDI with blaster2  coil.. I replaced the cap and rotor.. The grafite button was almost worn out… Not sure I'm sold on the HDI… Overall timing is set at about 33deg.. with mechanical advance..

Thinking about going back to vacumn advance …

Not suspecting cam or lifter problems ..  Used compressed air in cylinder to move the cylinder down ,Then I loosened the rockers on 4…  ,making sure the valves were fully closed… Air flowed thru the exhaust … nothing was sent back thru the crank case or carb..

Any ideas or thoughts will be appreciated .. It'll be about two weeks before I can get back to the problem …

Both #4 rockers loosened and air coming out exhaust? You have a bent valve, hardened seat falling out (if you have them) guide falling out or some sort of obstruction obviously.

I backed off on the rocker adjustment just to make sure the valves were fully closed … Then I put air in the cylinder and the air flowed back thru the exhaust. This indicated the exhaust valve is burned… It works.

If the air had flowed thru the crank case it would indicate a ring or piston problem….

If the air had flowed thru the carb it would have indicated an intake valve was bad..

Sanded the original valve covers… Removing the Edelbrock valve covers and the air cleaner.. Hairline crack in cover …Think I'll turn it into a clock for my garage …

Opened up the trunk to look for a rag to wipe oil off my hands. Wanted put my new club plate on the front and start it. But didn't happen.  To cold and blowing snow.

DROVE IT!  Put it in the garage a month ago for the winter to start working on some stuff but a bathroom project got in the way.  It was 60 degrees today so we drove it  to "Toys R Us" (well it used to be, now its a huge liquor store) and got some good stuff for an evening in the hot tub.  Sposed to be cold and snowy next week so maybe now I'll take it apart.

Toys r us. Liquor store. Isn’t that the same thing?

Wheels back from the powdercoater and tires back on. Love polished aluminum but hate polishing. They'll go back on after I get some other work done.
