Rob Peters Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I replaced my upper radiator hose. I don't want a repeat of last years journey home from Carlisle when my lower radiator hose ruptured. I had replaced them both at the same time. I can't remember the year I replaced them but I do know it was not that many years ago. The lower one I replaced at the time I replaced both of them my have been sitting on a shelf for awhile and that my have contributed to its failure due to dry rot. I had inspected them last year prior to Carlisle and they both looked good so I didn't want to take a chance so while we were at Lutty's a few weeks ago I bought a new upper hose so I could replace it so I had some time today so I got er done. I also set up my car radio for hands free blue-tooth phone operation. So, tomorrow I will take her out for my first car cruise of the 2025 cruise season. rob 11 Quote

Scott S. Posted April 14 Posted April 14 There's not many feeling that can compare to slipping the shifter into gear, letting out the brake, and feeling her roll ahead. 👍 4 1 Quote

stangeba Posted April 24 Posted April 24 First drive for 2025 on this great very warm Thursday and guess what happened? The battery was dead!! I just bought it March 7, 2024................ Hooked up the charger, the dial read 0, rechecked the connections, all good so I just waited a bit and sprayed some weedkiller on all around the house. About 45 Min, finished the weeds, looked at the dial and it was at 10+, waited a bit longer then started the car. This year I poured some gasoline into the carb, put the lid back on and started the engine!!!!! Went for a nice ride around my area, shut it off and yes, it did start back up!!! 10 Quote

Put a nice , slow overnight charge on the battery so you don’t overwork the alternator. 6 Quote

That's why I pull my battery for the winter and store it in a nice, warm place..... Hook it to the charger about once a month, just to keep it active. 3 Quote

Rob Peters Posted April 25 Posted April 25 More prep for the Summer Cruise season and trips to the Eastern Meet in Kentucky and our Mini-Meet in Carlisle. This all started last week with doing an oil change. While it was up on jack stands I noticed a slight wear on the edge of one of the front tires so I started checking the front suspension. There was no play in the ball joints but I found a lot of play in the Idler arm, inner and outer tie rods. Last time I had it up on stands I had checked these items. Being upset about the added work ahead, I accidently kicked the oil drain pan and spilled oil all over the place. Even though the ball joints checked out OK, I noticed the boots on the upper ball joints were both torn. So the demo started and an order for: Inner tie rods, Outer tie rods, Tie rod adjusting sleeves, Idle arm, Upper ball joints and Stabilizer link kits. I also ordered bushings for my stabilizer bar but they turned out to be too small. I figured my Monte being a small block it would have a smaller stabilizer bar but it was too thick for the new bushings. Today I completed the installation of everything and rotated the tires. I hope to get her realigned next week and other than cleaning her up she will be ready to go. Disassembly and oil spill Upper ball joint removed Stabilizer bar removed Tie rods, center link Idler arm and ball joints removed New parts all installed. rob 7 1 Quote
