I have too much time on my hands OR I'm out of my mind OR both.

What is that contraption?  Lots of fuses and a fan cooled box.

No fan, that's an Amphenol multi-pin socket on the end of the box.

The box has fuses and relays to run everything in my car, EFI, cooling, AC, lights, brake pump, etc. Fuses over 15 amps are Maxi Fuses.

It'll mount on the right fender well near the battery.

That's pretty wild - looking forward to seeing the installed product 😀

On a side note, I did see a 72 Monte in Walla Walla Washington which is 20 miles from where I live. A guy was driving it in a different direction than what I was traveling, so I didn't get a chance to talk to him. It was cool to see another first gen Monte Carlo local to me. It was Blue with a White vinyl top, and it looked to be in really nice condition.

It wasn't me, but I do drive my 1970 all over Walla Walla (I live here). I've seen a couple of others but do not know if they are local or not.

It's good to know I have someone local to me who has a first gen Monte Carlo.

That 72 MC that I saw in WW was blue with a white vinyl top.

Took my good friend Dan Devine (who helped me with my  Monte Build, back in '04-'08),out for dinner in the Monte. He's up from Florida visiting. We took a good ride in it to the restaurant (no issues). Got on it, just  a little bit when we left, and on the way back home. When we pulled into the Hotel, the exhaust blew another donut gasket at the manifold, and there was a grinding noise (intermittent). I also noticed my volt gauge was only reading 8 volts, and the whine of a belt sound. Pulled into a gas station, the alternator belt was still on (loose), and the brace from the water pump had come loose. That grinding sound was the bolt into the water pump pulley. Talk about luck!! Had that bolt been dropped along the way, this Monte would have to be towed home last night!  Had it back and fixed in no time(always a tool box in the trunk). Now, I have to say,I have been checking things here and there,(nut and bolt check) since it's been back on the road, nothing this major yet.  I still can't  understand why these exhaust donuts keep failing. Last drive from Syracuse National's , I had one go on the driver's side. These are not cheapo's either. going to have to get to the bottom of this problem. Oh, and no pictures, I left my phone at home! ( Dan can attest to that ! )IMG_1438.thumb.jpg.9faf796a7eabcb30e6cd2a9a06bce3d6.jpg

I’ve been wanting to do this for over three years now. Seven months after elbow reconstruction, three months post knee replacement, low to mid 70's in Monte Carlo Garage and three planets and a comet lined up so I got into it-alone.

Upgrading to a Digital Dakota gauge system, Vintage Air AC system, a new EFI system and a ton of wiring clean-up can finally proceed.

The dash is in pretty good shape but the plastic gauge housing is really 54 years old brittle, even lightly handling it some corners and tabs came off. Thank heavens the aftermarket offers these housings.

I already added a direct ground wire to the wiper switch, I’ll be doing the same to the headlight switch.

There's a few old gauge mount holes in the bottom of the dash, I'm gonna fill them and give it a good paint job.

Good luck on the dash project. Take your time. It will be worth it.

Okay, a couple of weeks ago I finally yanked the undersized Edelbrock Performer (2101) manifold and installed a proper Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap (7501) on the 406 CID Small Block.

Man did it make a big difference too.

And yesterday (8/31/25) I installed a Holley 12-327-11 fuel pump (110 gph) to replace the stock Carter pump that was on there, both mechanical. That also made a difference, been wanting to do this for a while too now.

Thanks,Matt

Here are some pics:

I also added last week and MSD Soft Touch Rev Limiter and MSD RPM Switch.

Additionally, I added a new tachometer with a built-in shift light and installed a 52mm vacuum gauge in my gauge pod

(where I had my previous tachometer, a 52mm tachometer which was too small)

Thanks,Matt

That I don't know, unless I was there and able to look when you are posting.

Unless there are cookies that are interfering or something.

I just tried the post in the forum and worked (to page 183). You may have clicked on the page 1 next to it? I'd try it again and see what happens.
