In the process of installing viking rear coil over shocks my tailpipes were in the way. I ended up having to remove the Tailpipes to install the Coil Over Shocks. Now that the shocks are installed the tailpipes will not fit/work. I have a 3" exhaust system from Torque Tech. I am thinking I will have to have the tailpipes done at a shop now. If I need to, would it effect performance I go from 3 inch down to 2 1/2 to the tailpipes?

Thanks

I want to do the Viking coilovers and currently have a 2 1/2" exhaust. Hopefully I won't have to screw around with the exhaust.

Cory has them, don't think he had an issue. I changed my rear sway bar and had to change mufflers. Now I changed to coil over's  and have issue with Tailpipes. I think Someone trying to tell me to stop changing things... But I love the fact you can adjust the height to what you want. That was my main reasoning.

I don't recall your engine combo and how much HP you are making but exhaust gasses have cooled quite a bit by the time they exit the mufflers so i doubt you would see a decrease in performance by going to a 2.5 tails.

David , I am not sure how much horsepower Im supposed to be making. Running a 468 10 to 1 ,Aluminum heads oval port heads, AirGap Intake. Headers are 1 7/8.

Sam ,  Sorry for the bad news. They would defiantly interfere with your 3.5 ( holy crap 3.5)  The Lower shock bracket you get and install with these coil overs , Raises and moves the lower shock mount position about 3 inches to the inside. I can post more pictures if you want.

Thanks guys

Im thinking Viking makes a set of double adjustable shocks for the rear that mount in the factory location. They aren't coilovers but might offer more clearance for a big exhaust. Or you could just dump the exhaust before the axle...not ideal but it works.

Unless you are chasing ET's, running a short length of 2.5" pipe probably wont hurt a thing. If you would rather have the bigger pipe, sometimes you can use oval tubing to get through tight places. Good luck with the fix!

I had a buddie over and he was checking out the car. I told him bout the tailpipe issue. He said why don't you go with offset and center in the back? Ummm. I didn't even think of that. I lined up the passenger side and looks like that might work. I just have to try the driver side now. So I may be able to change the mufflers instead of having tailpipes made. Me and the dang mufflers. This will be 3rd set. Must admit the Magnaflows I bought sounded good but at about 2-2500 it was freaking loud in the car.
