Guest Posted November 12, 2003 Posted November 12, 2003 What inlet/outlet configuation did the 71 mufflers have? i.e. center in/offset out, offset in/offset out. etc. Thanks, Bob
Hoodicoff1 Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 my orignail dual exhaust had offset in and offset out with really tiny mufflers
Guest Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 Thanks Guys, I got two different opinions. I'll see if we can get a third.
Andreas Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 Just installed a brand new exhaust and the kit for GM A-Bodies had offset in/offset out mufflers included... ------------------ 71 Monte 454 HO 5- Speed "FULMNTE" 01 Camaro V6 Andreas' Monte Carlo Site Member NMCOA, FGMCC (Event Coordinator) ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------ "It ain't a car if it's not a Monte"
Guest Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 Thanks Andreas, you've nailed it. Offset in/Offset out wins it. Bob
Guest Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 Since I'm installing the exhaust pipes (no mufflers yet) this week end, Which way do the offset/offset mufflers mount? That is are they offset toward the frame or toward the driveshaft?
Guest Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 I believe the outlet is to the outside of the car that would put the inlet towards the driveshaft. That is what it looks like in a chevelle assembly manuel (1970) Bob
Andreas Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 Yup, on my Monte, the offset inlet is towards the driveshaft....
