Hi, how is clearance on a f body t56 in the tunnel? Does anyone know what the hood clearance is like from the valley cover to the hood, or if a carbed ls fits under the stock hood?

Also if it does, I was planning on skinning my hood to almost just the sheet and removing hinges, ect and making it a pin on... we do this in our street stocks and it works just fine, but thos hoods arnt 6 feet long lol

And my car is missing inner fenders .. keep them off or will it cause turbulence and hurt airflow too the carb?

Thanks, this is my first monte

T-56 will require some work on the tunnel.  unless you are running a stupid tall intake with spacers you'll be fine.  People run factory truck LS intakes just fine and they are pretty tall.  Put inner fenders in.  Street Car?

And the carbed intakes are tall plus the carb and then air cleaner, thays why I was worried, thanks for the quick reply by the way

I'm on a budget, and I really need to lighten this thing up, not all for performance but mostly because my trans was built with the intent of being in a 2800lb car and I don't want to grenade it, I wanna keep interior in it also altho I don't have a front seat yet

Well a holley high rise (EFI) intake is about 12 inches from valley to top and that should clear. (Will be close though) unless you are running fiberglass everything it will be tough. These are big cars.

Yeah there monsters, are there weight listings anyware?

So far

Front sway bar & everything related Inc hardware 14.5lbs

All under hood A/C components & hardware minous heater hoses 34.5lbs

Hood latch&spring, release all related brackets and hardware 7.6lbs

I'll make a list of everything I remove and post it, unless it's been done already

So far I'm 56lbs lighter! Going in the right direction

depending on how your car is equipped, it could be as much as 4000lbs or more. Kind of porky from the factory. Its not too hard to get the weight out though with fiberglass. I'm trying to do the same with my car.

I can't afford much fiberglass, I think I'm gonna skin my hood and use it as a pin on, at first I figured it would be wayyyy to flimsy in the center but I think it will rest on my air cleaner, I may leave just the x portion of the brace

But if I can clear the stock hood I'm not buying fiberglass and I may even leave the front bumper off depending on how cheap I can get an aftermarket

ya know....there are ways to overcome the weight issue

supercharger....turbos....nitrous....cubic inches

Lol I know, 408 ls3 combo with a 200 shot , should be close to 800 at the flywheel, I'm worried about my transmission moving the weight, like to he able to launch at 6

It's a early srt10 trans basicly a viper box, it's the 1 piece counter shaft and had 1,200miles when I got it, liberty has it now doing input shaft Shot peen billet keys on all 3 as well as all the bronze pads , already has carbon blocker rings and such being the viper box and also having the cryogenic and thermal treatment done

That being said I'm still worried

I really can't afford to trash this transmission, if I need to I'll sell it and build an old chrysler box but I really like the overdrive
