red/white04 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 The dash is from a Grand Am. I think Sam wanted more "In Progress" pictures Quote
Boots Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I really love that steering wheel...any hints as to where I might find one ???? Quote
clay Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 So the mirrors are 2012 Camaro and the dash is 2005 grand am that has been widend from side to side and narrowed front to back. The steering wheel I orderd from summit racing and is a billet specialties piece. Quote
o_rod Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Been loving this build, Any updates on zeus? Also, are the rain drip rails a removable item, I'd love to smooth my monte out! Quote
clay Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 So progress has been made...I put the 6.0 ls attached to my t56 in the car for mock up after I cut hole in the floor to make Room for the much taller tranny. I was glad to see that the motor mounts and headers fit great too! 1 Quote
clay Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 So after getting the engine and trans in, it was time to put the fenders back on and make it look like a car again. It's been a couple years since I have had this thing looking like a car! The next step is to cut down the bumpers for a tighter fit. I have parts on order for brake cooling ducts and air filters for the throttle body. Time for fun fab! 1 Quote
clay Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 The drip rails are removable if you don't mind cutting them off and welding the roof skin to the underside structure! It's a lot of work but looks awesome! Quote
o_rod Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I've been contemplating which direction to take my newly aquired monte and your build is definitely giving me tons of ideas and motivation... Love the direction this is heading, If you can give some detail on the process when you tuck the bumpers, that'd be awesome! Quote
vince Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 This is a cool build to watch thanks for sharing Quote
420ponies Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 (edited) Man, you know!! I'm looking at this and never seen this much attention to the body mods and interior. Nice Monte!! And I'm lovin'the color you picked. Maybe I can talk my wife into that color on her '88 Fiero Formula. Edited November 10, 2016 by 420ponies Quote
clay Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 Thanks for compliments on my build guys! I have been working on my front bumper this week. Got the bumper where I want it and just cut out 3/4 of a an inch off both sides. Will have some more massaging to fit where I want it. I hope to have it welded up this weekend so I can start working on brake cooling ducting. My boy unpacked those parts today for me... 1 Quote
1970montess Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Your monte looks awesome man!!! If you have any progress pics of the helwig frame kit install I'd love to see them. I have the helwig kit and started the install but haven't been able to finish do to building a new house. Hopefully I'll be back on the monte soon. 1 Quote
clay Posted February 2, 2017 Author Posted February 2, 2017 So the bumper treatments continue... the rear this time. I wanted to bring it up and I closer to the body, shave the bolt holes and add a bit of race car flavour. I made some exhaust tips and built a diffuser into the bumper. These pics are where I am at now. Should finish it up this weekend Quote
o_rod Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Nice touches on the rear bumper. Are you going to be running a fuel cell or are you somehow going to run the exhaust around the stock tank? Quote
clay Posted February 3, 2017 Author Posted February 3, 2017 Thanks! The stock location tank will work with some modifications to bumper mounts and I also plan on running the pipe through the frame rather than under to clean up the look under the car. Here are some hellwig frame box pics as well Quote
1970montess Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I love the bumper & all the other body mods you're doing! Frame looks awesome! Going to be a sweet ride when you're done! Quote
clay Posted February 5, 2017 Author Posted February 5, 2017 Ok so after lots measuring, cutting and welding the rear bumper is done. Bolts shaved, added diffuser, tightened quarter panel gap, and my favourite part...Center exit exhaust. Now to finish the front bumper! Quote
CKZ03 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Nice creativity, really like what ur doing! Can't wait to see it finished. 1 Quote
