I'm trying to remember this answer. Our Monte's came with two different Sun Visors. A long type that connects to the inside mirror and a shorter version that just floats way before the mirror. I always thought the longer type was only in the 1970 models with A/C and the shorter version was in heater cars. But this didn't hold true in 71 and 72. Who knows????

Hi Carl, my 71ss has no ac and has the longer ones that join in the middle or at the rear view mirror mount

I know they weren't a option. But there is no rime or reason. Do you think it was a production line choice. I also have the longer visors but I changed mine. My 71 was a heater car and had the shorter ones.

After seeing this I had to go look. Mine is a 71 AC car with the short ones. I didn't know there were two types.

I have a 70 that was an A//C car it has the long style. I also have a 72 that was A/C with short. Both cars came from the Maryland plant.

Three '70s all with A/C with long one's, all built at Van Nuys plant.

I beleive all 70s had the long ones. My 70 has the long ones. The two 71s and the 72 I owned had the short ones.

71 no A/C, short visors.

I think my memory is correct. 1970 Monte had the long ones and 71-72 have the short ones. It seems the 70 A/C Monte's have long ones. Someone needs to chime in to with a 70 with Heat only for the visor length.

Okay. I just went down to the Archives in the basement. I have a 70 Monte and the whole interior is down there. This is what I found. 1970 Monte Heater Car with long visors.

These visors were used for other GM cars. 1970 was the first production year for the Monte Carlo and they used parts from other GM cars to get them done. Then they changed it for 71 and 72. I personally like the longer visor and will continue to use them.
