Battery size

I looked up batteries for 70 Monte they said 78 or 34. My cables are top mount so I bought the 34. It's way to big. Doesn't come close to fitting the tray. Why would they offer that size if it's not close. Do I get a 78 and new cable ends? I hate side post batteries such a pain if you need to jump or a jump.

Measure the battery box then go and get the highest cca battery that will fit. You should be able to get top post.
