got a 400 trans that will be goin behind a 454 450hp motor the truck/car will only see street use. what will be a good stall to put in it? the only thing that was done to the trans was a b&m shift impover kit which we put in 5 years ago, along with a deeper trans pan. rear gears r a set of 2.73 single track with 26x12 radial m/t sportsmans.

Dan,

Yes it is a modified 12" TH 350 converter works great with my setup.

As far as brands of convertors go I'd get with the boys at Yank. They will get you the right convertor for what ever you plan on doing. They have a great reputation and warranty. Guys beat the snot of their convertors and thet just don't break. They are expensive, but I believe you get what you pay for.

3000 is what I going to have, but only street use, 2000 is probably good enough. But if you should want to go play then a higher stall would do you good. smile

I will be taking the 72 SS to the dragstrip every once in a while. cool

If you end up going with a higher stall, make sure you put a external cooler on since the increased stall speed will increase the temps. of the trans.
