What rear-end gears in a 70 SS?

What's in your 70 SS? Or what typically came from the factory in a 70 SS? Thanks!

2.56:1 was the norm for a '70

 

3.31 for a '71

 

others could be ordered

G80 - 12 bolt positraction rear – 2.56 was the standard ratio for the 70 SS and the 3.31 was the standard ratio for the 71.

 

I think you could order differently though.

71 is the 3:31 gear......... bur you could order about any gear.

I agree with the 2.56 for '70 and 3.31 for '71, but I haven't ever heard of or seen proof of any other gear in an SS454.

 

Can anybody verify this with a build sheet?

My 70SS had 2.56, but I changed it to 3.31 using a correct stamped rear end from a 70 396SS El Camino.
