I installed Dougs 313 Ceramic coated headers in my 1972 402/400 with no interference.  Proportional Valve close on driver side but still clearance.  Used existing 350 Motor Mounts I think.  My biggest problem would be getting to that header flange bolt passenger side firewall end as the A/C Box creates a problem accessing that bolt.

Wow.  I think I will send this passenger side header back to Dougs to get checked on the jig.   They tell me I have to put motor mount stands in from classic industry.  However I believe it will actually make the problem worse. Lifting the motor up is not the not the solution here.  I will post some pics , doug thanks for the response very much helps me with my decision.

This was back in 2010 if I remember correctly that I installed them.  I had the room also on passenger side to install a heat shield around Starter.  Wonder if something had changed with the design...............

Ya not crazy about the starter being so close. I was going to wrap the headers.  And put a shield in.  But it’s the Lower a-frame rear mount that is the biggest problem.  If you see the rear shot of the trans you see I’m a good inch from putting the bolts in trans mount.  I could cut the a-arm mount and weld a triangle brace in from the frame and retain strength.  But damn I shouldn’t have to do that.   Doug how far away are you from that a-frame hanger.  And thank both you guys for chiming in.  I’m in a pickle here.  Greg 210-213-2323

And yes Doug that rear bolt on passenger side is a pain.  But my front clip is off so it was easy with a long quarter inch extension

I know this is an old thread but thought I should add some info.  Steve had Hooker Super Comps on his car for a long time that weren’t looking up to par.  Decided he wanted a new set.  Ordered the identical set and when he went to install them they were a different fit and he had to tweek and also redo his entire exhaust because the new ones did not align with his exhaust.

He found out after calling them that they are no longer made in USA and that production has moved to China.  That is reason for change in design/fit.  Also when in USA you could have them ordered JETHOT coated and they would be delivered from JETHOT.  Coating is now done in China.

Just an FYI if your looking to replace an older set as he did.  They will not fit the sme

There is some truth to that but, IMHO, the design is sent to the manufacturer, regardless of who makes them, from Hooker. Hooker is responsible for checking the product specifications before it goes into mass production. I’ll bet they were trying to take 3-4 different designs and make a “ one fits all design” to cut down on costs. And a small print line in the instructions that says “ slight modifications may need to be made to fit your particular application “. Like I said, just my opinion.

Arh is the way to go.

I have to agree with this! When I first checked them out, saw the price,  said NO WAY! So I did all my research, pro's and cons. After that I emailed the company on a Sunday with my project and concerns. The owner emailed me back, on a Sunday. That fact, and the conversation sealed the deal for me. Couldn't be happier!
