thanks to all for the info and suggestions from how to wire a volt gauge fix my gas gage  then the tach PINCHED WIRE WHEN I PUT THE DASH BACK UP.. to my car not cranking the plastic on the solinoid cracked making bad contact.  what i started as a 2=3 day project ended up being 2 1/2 month.    thanks thanks thanks  dave
