MADMAC Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Will an aftermarket shifter work in a stock console? I really want to switch my Monte to a bucket, console car and want to go with an original console but dont want to use the H type shifter. I'd like to use the Hurst pistol grip, is this gonna be too much trouble? Quote
MADMAC Posted March 2, 2008 Author Posted March 2, 2008 Stupid me! It's an automatic Turbo 400, trying to make an automatic aftermarket shifter work.Duh... Quote
monte70car Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 madmac y dont u want to use the horseshoe shifter? thats what i have in my monte with a 700r4 trans. im not sure what type of look u r goin after. Quote
Sam (Bones) Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 yes it can be done, you have to get creative Quote
MADMAC Posted March 2, 2008 Author Posted March 2, 2008 I like the Horseshoe shifter, it's what my dad had in his Chevelle. And I think original console setups look nice. But like I said, right now I have column shift and the Hurst I like isn't too much more than me buying an original type of shifter. I just wanted a more race looking kind. Quote
MADMAC Posted March 2, 2008 Author Posted March 2, 2008 Thank you sir, sorry about the little typo misunderstanding earlier. Quote

Sam (Bones) Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 weld some square tube to the "hump" to get it to the right height, and make a custom plate for the consol Quote
