Master cylinder rod placement on brake pedal shaft

I understand that there are two holes on the brake pedal shaft. The master cylinder rod will have a different mechanical advantage depending on which hole is used.  The lower hole is for power brakes and the upper hole is for manual brakes. In using a master cylinder with a 1 inch bore the pedal will be softer than using a 1 1/8 inch bore. Is it posible to harden up the brake pedal by placing the master cylinder rod at a different locationon the shaft? Thanks, Ed

Doubtful it'll work properly. If you notice, the natural angle of the power brake booster/master assembly points towards the lower hole on the brake pedal. A manual master sits more level and would point towards the upper hole. Assuming you still intend to use the booster, you'd be forcing the actuator rod to an angle that it really doesn't have the range to do. That's my take on it anyways.

Ed, one is for manual brakes, the other is for power brakes. Both rely on completely different angles to work.
