No ignorance implied. Sorry if I offended you also. Just some info for everyone. Hope it helps. 

An overdrive with any gear ratio will get better milage than the same ratio with a 3 speed trans.

No one can guarantee a milage gain but it certainly should give you one. Just how much of a gain is unknown. 

If nothing else highway drivability will be more fun.

It’s funny how times have changed. We’re building “classics or hot rods” and we’re making changes with fuel mileage as a concern. Yes I get it and I do it to. It’s just funny.🤪😆

No milage concerns here. It is what it is. If I was worried about gas milage I wouldn't have classic cars and my daily wouldn't be a truck!  Just sayin...

Out here in the open wilds of western Canada, it can be a few miles between gas stations..... The days of having one every 50 miles are gone, even though some of the buildings are still standing. 

The things you took for granted as a kid.... lol.

What?   fuel isn't  54.9 cents a gallon anymore? whoa!
