MC1of80 Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 No ignorance implied. Sorry if I offended you also. Just some info for everyone. Hope it helps. An overdrive with any gear ratio will get better milage than the same ratio with a 3 speed trans. Quote
71MonteCarloMD Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Thanks Tom, so swapping the overdrive transmission like 4L80E with 10 bolt (8.2 or 8.5) will improve mileage? Quote
MC1of80 Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 No one can guarantee a milage gain but it certainly should give you one. Just how much of a gain is unknown. If nothing else highway drivability will be more fun. Quote
Scott S. Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 When I swapped in the 200r4, my mileage went from about 14 mpg to 19 mpg. (imp. gal) Quote
Dtret Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 It’s funny how times have changed. We’re building “classics or hot rods” and we’re making changes with fuel mileage as a concern. Yes I get it and I do it to. It’s just funny.🤪😆 1 Quote
MC1of80 Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 No milage concerns here. It is what it is. If I was worried about gas milage I wouldn't have classic cars and my daily wouldn't be a truck! Just sayin... 3 1 Quote
Scott S. Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Out here in the open wilds of western Canada, it can be a few miles between gas stations..... The days of having one every 50 miles are gone, even though some of the buildings are still standing. The things you took for granted as a kid.... lol. Quote
