smokinquack Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 My passenger side hinge was bent so I got a repop from OPGI. They offer a GM pair for $580. It leaned inboard bad so I pouned on it with a sledge hammer and got it looking somewhat better. Installed and now the drivers side sits too high. Doesnt make sense other than new one is stiff at the pivot points and original is loose. It rubs trying to close it. I think I need to start over with a new pair, anybody had luck with something less than $580? Quote
Mike Brichta Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 My suggestion would be to get a good used pair and have them rebuilt. Best way to resolve the problem. Quote
Leghome Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 I got mine from Leo Konick for less than 20% of that 580. Also replaced the springs and everything was way less than $200 Quote
Glen Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 “It leaned inboard bad so I pouned on it with a sledge hammer and got it looking somewhat better.” This ⬆️ Is how I fix 90% of things that break in my house or on my vehicles. Always seems like a good idea at the time. Quote
cbolt Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 I had an extra set so sent mine off to be rebuilt. Never had an issue afterwards. Quote
Sam (Bones) Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 GM hinges new or used (unless worn out) are the best, remember to lube all the pivot points if the hood is not laying down all the way...try raising the front of the hinge...yes I know it sounds backwards 1 Quote
Katman Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 If you're going to pay that kind of money, I'd recommend the billet hinges from eddie motorsports. Quote
