rsorg Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 hi, has anyone had good luck with a fuel additive to add to the gas tank , to clean out the carburetor, thanks roger Quote
7tonemonte Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Roger, I put Lucas injector and fuel system cleaner in all my vehicles occasionally. Seems to do well with the daily drivers. I don’t notice much with the Monte but I still add it 2 Quote
Jeff Dodson Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 I know this is an old topic, but Orielys sells REDLINE COMPLETE FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER. Works great, my wife's Tahoe kept having an intermittent miss throwing a code. The next day it would smooth and then code was code and CEL went out. It did it twice. I ran it through as directed, 1st bottle in quarter tank of gas, drive it,then fill it up and I added another. The problem did not come back. I'm told the direct injection should be flushed at 50k miles but if this worked, it saves $280.00. I did it on my 02 Silverado as well.... and have a bottle in my Monte Quote
72 Monte Carlo Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Redline makes great products! Their synthetic trans oil is awesome for any Harley trans, because it sticks to all the internal parts better, which help the trans shift smoother. Seafoam is great for cleaning injectors and the valves. Lucas makes great products as well. Any of those products should help clean up the fuel system internals to help it run better and smoother. 3 Quote
riverdogs00 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I run the driven carb defender in both of mine. Funny side story, but Lake Speed is well known in the piston ring and the oil biz. He did a video for the Porsche club of America talking about additives. Short version....if you have to add an additive to the oil, you have the wrong oil. There are only 5 or 6 fuel additives that have the right chemical make up to be recommended. 5 1 Quote
420ponies Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Now That is one informative video!! I guess I'll need to read more on the labels of the different oils. I think he doesn't like Lucas additives. Boy, I sure do. The octane booster was very informative also. I use that every time I go drive it. 4 Quote
