Rear air shock gravel guard

Doing some touch up underneath, looks like these guards have been painted over at least 15 times ! Will completely remove old paint , and start over. Original color black? Thanks

There is a picture. But I’ll be danged if I can remember what I used to paint them. I’ll figure it out thought  I think grey phosphate

They look like a candidate for the sandblaster, not sure on color but I would go with rear end color.

These were mine when I took them off. Eastwood makes a paint called bare metal. I think that’s what I did. So it looks grey
