I just bought my first monte carlo, it's a 1972 with a 350, turbo 350, and a factory 12 bolt. I bought a 6.0 Lq9 out of am escalade and a turbo 400 from a 70 Chevelle, Is there anything I should know before attempting to start the swap? I haven't seen very many LS swapped Montes but if anyone knows anything I would appreciate it, I can't find much info on the topic

Pierce, welcome to the First Generation Monte Carlo Club website.  We hope you like what you see here and decide to become a full fledged dues paying member.  I think you are the first person here on the boards from Peru.

Welcome Pierce!

I guess I am not sure exactly what information you are looking for, but as far as reference material, any type of LS swap videos for a chevelle should help as they are fairly similar.

I know you will need special motor mounts (lots of aftermarket choices), and some type of controller. You can use the one from the escalade if you are just straight swapping it, but it you are building the engine you will want it tuned. You can also use an aftermarket controller which can be somewhat expensive, give you a lot of options.

There's good information here:

I used the stock PCM and had it reflashed to remove the ignition security, emissions, and the transmission mounted range selector, as well as calibrate the speed sensor for my tire size and rear end gears.

You have a TH400 for this, but is there any thought on using a 4L80E transmission? You would need to do some minor rewiring of the stock harness with an adapter like this, but you would have the strength of the TH400 with an overdrive gear. The stock PCM can have the transmission information swapped, which I believe you would need to do anyways for the older transmission to work.

Make sure you set the thrust on the torque converter. The thrust is .080 to .130. This might save your new motor. If the clearance is to big the torque converter will not Engage the front pump.
