71SSclone Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Has anyone used these pieces from OPGI? Just wondering on fit and finish https://www.opgi.com/sheet-metal-body-panels/quarter-panels/1970-72-steel-outer-rear-wheelhouse/wheelhouse-1970-72-monte-carlo-rear-outer-pair-m240188-pr.html https://www.opgi.com/sheet-metal-body-panels/trunk-panels/steel-panel-between-trunk-rear-window3/panel-rr-window-to-trunk-1968-72-chevelle-70-72-monte-69-70-gp-usa-made-cam7624.html Quote
MC1of80 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Replaced those panels and more on my 71 402 4speed Monte. Shop around. Many places have them for cheaper and quicker shipping. Try the parts place, ground up, koniks etc. 3 Quote
71SSclone Posted October 29, 2021 Author Posted October 29, 2021 Lots of places are out of stock and can not guarantee a shipping date 1 Quote
714024SPEED Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 I've had very good luck with AMD panels in the past. Got them from Summit racing 1 Quote

Yeah, with about $550 more than the AMD junk and a couple of 4 hour round trips to the chrome plater. Don't forget the 3 trips to UPS to drop off the bad AMD's too. 1 Quote
MrLPeezy Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I know it’s been awhile since this thread has been touched, but II was wondering: My online parts searches keep showing the rear wheelhouse is for the Chevelle. I know these share parts but would feel a lot better hearing from some of you guys if these parts are specifically shared. I appreciate everyone’s time. Quote
Scott S. Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Hi Lorenzo, If you're talking about the rear inner wheel wells, then yes... according to the Parts Place cataloug, the part #'s are the same. (bp1222a & bp1223a) The front ones are different in that the Monte is built on a longer frame (Chevelle wagon). Hope that helps. Scott. 1 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 If you talking about the outer wheel house the Chevelle are different, they do make monte outer wheel houses now. Not sure of the source though. 1 Quote

Jared Richey is in a "71SS" post in the general forum and is working on a '71 SS for a member . He is using Auto metal direct parts And I believe that's where the rear quarter and wheel well are from. I had asked him about the outer and he said that they are now making these for the Monte Carlo quarter panel now. When I did mine (back in '05-'06), I had to use a '69 Chevelle outer on both sides and added a 3/8"strip along the top edge, to the outer edge to make up the difference. It fit rather well except for that piece. I think they nailed it for fitment ,since Jared is using one on this '71 SS . Hope this helps and good to see you back on here. 1 Quote
