won't start

Still learning but today it won't crank. battery is new with 12.5 volts. ran fine yesterday. Trying to figure where to look next.

What is it doing? Is the engine turning when you turn the key ? Does it do anything when you turn the key?  If you just pull the light switch do the headlights come on?   If it doesn’t do anything when you turn the key check your connection at the battery.

In addition to Dennis questions, I faced same situation on my 71 and found that the purple wire to the starter was very brittle.  Suggest to check that as well.
