Batman Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 i am doing a 2004r swap in my 70 monte.getting close to putting motor and trans back in.how do i measure dtiveshaft to make sure the stock one will work.searched youtube all i find is how to measure to have one made. seams like im missing something just not getting it. i know yoke has to have room to slide. This site has some measurements listed as you scroll down. It would make a difference what type of u-joint you have, as well as the slip yoke used. It doesn't appear they list it by a center to center of the u-joints alone. Maybe someone here has that number. cbolt Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 The stock one should work just fine on your swap to a 200r4. I reused mine when I made that same swap, and thousands of miles later it is still doing all that driveshaft stuff it is supposed to do. That is the beauty of the 200r4, no additional modifications required. 1 Quote

Scott S. Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 I had to move my cross member back 6", but there are holes already drilled in the frame for this. The frame was used in several drive train configurations, so G.M. planned ahead. The only other issue may be the balancing collar on the yoke interfering with the 200r4's tail housing. But that can be trimmed for clearance. Quote
