G-67 tank varitions

I bought this smooth ended tank several yrs ago from a guy who had it on his Monte.  I knew it was a bit off, but couldn't say for certain it was true to the Monte. I also recently read in a thread where there may have been 2 types of G-67 tanks used; (some had a smooth end) were these used only on 70-71 Montes? I should mention although the pic looks otherwise, these tanks are exactly same size

The only tanks I have  seen on the Montes is the one with 2 piece end,(welded) I have seen the other smooth end ones on Cadillac

I believe I that Pontiac used the smooth ended tanks also.

I know of 2 Facebook members with '72s that came with the smooth end. Both are high option cars. I don't know of any others at this time.

Yep… both of my cars have G67 tanks of the “snipped” variety.

It was probably what part was available that day on the assembly line. Do we know what plant those Monte’s with them came from?

Am unsure, but remember this "snipped variety" (😄thanks Glen!)being off a 72 as well, so that echoes what others here have said.

Andreas had a 72 with the air ride system. Maybe a picture of his underhood  is still floating around.
