72 Monte Carlo Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 I wish my 72 Monte was painted and all put together, but unfortunately, it's not yet. I have a feeling it will be around another month before it gets into the body shop, as my friend is busy trying to finish up a 46 Chevy pickup first. Hopefully next year I'll be able to go to my first Western Meet. I hope everyone has a safe trip and a great time! 2 Quote

You still get a chance to meet some really great people and you get a feeling of the flow of things. A lot of members went the first time without their car and it motivated them to get it done. I do realize the Western Meet is a little different than Carlisle ( Aaron will chime in on that) but a great time can still be had. 3 Quote

Yes, it is different… we have more fun at the Western Meet… 😁 The meets are a great time with or without your Monte. I always encourage people not to wait for their car to be done before attending. Missing out on some good times. 4 1 1 Quote

Just like the forums, the experience and knowledge are spot on but it's the members that make it all work together. 4 Quote
Canuck Posted August 15, 2024 Author Posted August 15, 2024 With that said… there’s one hotel room left for the Western Meet. Once we have that booked we have the ENTIRE HOTEL to ourselves. We takeover the whole parking lot, the pool, etc. It’s a great time! 3 1 Quote

Canuck Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 I just got confirmation that we will be able to visit a very special private property for our lunch stop on the Friday cruise. Here's a teaser photo at the property. Lots of great things to see and the owners are always willing to share their stories. We will spend some time at this property and will have a few more scenic stops along the cruise route. 6 Quote
Canuck Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 I just sent an email to all those who are attending containing some important information regarding the meet. Let me know if you did not receive it. We are currently at 29 members and 30 Monte Carlos attending! 4 Quote
Dave B Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Hey Everyone, Because of medical issues I've had to back out of the western meet this year. Been dealing with a torn rotator cuff the past 5 years and Saturday morning it finally "snapped". I can't even open the hood to check my oil. At least a one armed man isn't in pain. I get in to the surgeon Monday Sept. 16. I've called Aaron (double A Ron), and cancelled my reservation at the motel. It was for a single queen bed room. I'm really bummed about this, I had such a great time last year and was excited about this year. I was going to stop in Yakima and visit the original owners of my Monte that I bought it from. I was also looking forward to the 4-wheel steering project that Jason talked of when we had lunch down at Bear Lake. He said; "How hard could it be?" Take care everybody, Dave 2 4 Quote
willie Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Dave, i feel for you. You are going to miss a fantastic show and i know Aaron sets a ton of stuff up that you are going to miss also. Now i had the same problem, torn rotator cuff surgery, Doc also did 3 other surgeries at the same time while he was in there. The problem is once it completely snaps, doesn't matter what you do, your in pain all the time. I even tried to duct tape my arm up, but couldn't do it by myself without more pain. I was a little luckier, as i had an appt with the Doc that week and he put me in the hospital right away. Rehab is no fun either, but you have to do it to get back to normal. I am at about 90% and that's all i am going to get but i have absolutely No pain at all. Now i should get the other side done but keep putting it off until i cant take the pain anymore, but as of now i can handle the pain. However i have to remember not to grab the half gallon of milk from the fridge with my right arm, I might drop it!!! LOL Good Luck to you, as i know there will be some not so nice words i the future!!! 5 Quote

Cannot lift anything over my unless it weighs less than 10 lbs plus there is always a minor ache but that may be because I still play golf, work on Ole Red and in my wood shop plus all of the repairs I have to do around this house. This 76 year old body doesn’t like it most of the time but the mind won’t give up 😝 😂 😆 6 Quote

When it rains it pours...2 days later the radiator core started leaking on my 1962 Olds Starfire. Was going to take that to a show in Coos Bay on the coast the following weekend after getting back from Canada. Am trying to sell it. And in the middle of replacing front and rear suspension on my 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7. Fix them when I can now. Past working life haunts are interfering with retirement fun! LOL! 1 1 Quote

I can deal with the minor pains, but this was a 10/10. All ready have a pair of new hip joints. Lower ball joints are replaced, uppers still to be done! 2 Quote

Scott S. Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 I think "titanium" would qualify as aftermarket. 3 1 Quote
