Whons Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Does anyone have a 1971 neutral safety switch for a 71 center console shifter? Quote

Chevy Dave Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 I purchased one last week from Heartbeat City on ebay. Standard NS7 made in USA. I believe it was abot $35, including shipping. Quote
Chevy Dave Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Check Amazon for Standard NS7, even lower price. Quote
70SS396 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I am pretty sure it is the same switch thats on a column shift car. Quote
Scott S. Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 No, it's a completely different switch.... I column switch is built into the white box that mounts on the top of the column behind the dash, (it's curved to fit the tube) and connects to the shifter arm with a rod. The console switch is simply a box with a contact that mounts onto the shifter mount and opens the circuit when not in park. Quote
MC1of80 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Here is the console, shifter mounted neutral safety switch. 1 Quote
70SS396 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I think you are referring to the ignition switch that is white higher up on the column. The neutral safety switch and integral back up light switch is as shown in the picture on a automatic transmission car. Its the same switch which is mounted on the lower column on a column shift automatic car. The neutral safety switch on a manual transmission is white and completely different but is connected to the clutch pedal . Hope this info helps to clarify this topic. Quote
