I loaded it up over the weekend on some old hardware and it was not too bad, but I did not leave it on long as I am playing around with Windows Home Server as well. Take a ghost image of you current setup, and play around with it...

Should run good then. Take a backup of stuff you do not want to loose, start with 1 drive plugged in and give it a shot smile

ian did you have to make an iso disc for it? or did it run straight off the computer? so far this morning i've down loaded on my laptop but i cant get it to burn to any of my disc. i got two hp dvd+r and the drive does not pick them up.

It was a ISO that I just burned to a DVD with nero or something. smile

if i take the disc i burned last night it shows as it needing to be open using ie, does that sound right? or should it be on something else?

You need to boot the computer from the disc, not open it inside of windows

Nope, it is a DVD, did you burn the ISO to the DVD as a file, or as a image...

allan when i double click it, it opens a internet expoler window. no dvd software comes up. i did burn it on a dvd disc with nero and had no luck. now i get a file download screen. from the down load screen it downloads its self again.

Sounds like you did not actualy download the .iso file... It is 2.5gb

What burning software do you use? If you open the DVD in explorer what do you see on it?

Posted

i used nero and burned it as a data disk. if i double click it is downloads its self again. it does show up on the dvd disk but the drives wont start it when the computer restarts.

allan here is what i have HPIM0688.jpg. when i did the linux iso disk i did not have any problems. i got the beta software from the windows 7 web page.

yea and allans post. but i cant get it to restart the upgrade when windows xp is running like it tells me to do when i trun to upgrade. so im formating the other harddrive and will try to load it on that drive. when i go to my computer and click on the dvd drive nothing comes up on the disk.

I never do a upgrade, too many issues to work with... That is why I keep data separate from the OS, that way I can play smile

i cant even do a new install on the blank drive frown when i click on the dvd rom the file does not show up. when i restart the computer and press the any key it brings up the windows install screen and the options of an upgrade or custom.

You have to do custom, then choose the right drive to install it to.
