Joselk1 Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Dropped my gas tank yesterday and discovered the build sheet. Had to use a very soft makeup brush to get the 50 years of grime off but I can read it. It’s everything as expected now I have the paper proof. Without the help of this group I don’t think I would have noticed. 7 Quote

overdrive Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Congratulations on your great find! Your SS was not only built in California, it was ordered by a customer at a California dealership. Dan 2 Quote
Glen Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 You’re a First Gen Build Sheet archeologist after that excursion. Congrats on locating your baby’s birth certificate. Erases any doubts you may have had regarding authenticity. 1 Quote
Dtret Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Congratulations on the find. Now comes the fun decision. Do you restore it to original or build what you want?? It’s a tough decision when you have paperwork in your hand. 1 Quote

I’m restoring it now but putting in 700r4 for drivability. I pulled the original 454 in December and it was rebuilt, we just ran it on a test stand Friday. All new internals and balanced with original heads cleaned up. I have the original intake and Quadrajet restored. Should be back on the road in 6 weeks and fingers crossed it will be spring in Michigan 7 Quote
Montemedic Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Take a bunch of detailed photos of your build sheet and put them away with your title for safe keeping. 3 Quote
Joselk1 Posted June 26, 2024 Author Posted June 26, 2024 I found another build sheet when I removed the original carpet. It was under drivers side sound deadening material. You can’t tell from this picture but many parts of it are readable. I now know this car was special ordered and delivers to Capital Chevrolet, Nashville Tn. I’ll be taking the seat covers off in the next week or so…hoping for another build sheet that’s better. 9 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 I found one between the cardboard and foam of the drivers side front seat. Nice condition. 2 Quote
