Trim tag should say what the seats are too.

It does.

The line items on my window sticker show the buckets at $129 and  the console at $59.

So what are the chances that it was ordered column and console shift.

I would say it would be 0%.  Yes, you could order a column shift with bucket seats but I doubt it would have a console with shifter.  With a console shift the speedometer would be different than a column shift and clearly yours not only has the portion of the column shifter would be but also has the gear indicator in the speedometer.

I have seen several with the console added that didn’t have the proper mounting brackets. The shifter assembly is bolted to the floor but the console is not.

Mine is all bolted down. I don’t know for sure but I’m wondering if it could have been added at the dealership if the customer wanted the console shift instead of the column shift. I’ve heard of people having the dealership changing the options for them. I’m extremely happy with the car regardless just curious

Anything is possible. But at the factory everyone started as a shell and then the options were added. That being said as long as you’re happy that’s really all that matters. Build it how you want. Options can be added at will. Just ask Glen.

Kory,

More than likely most people are not going to notice it unless you mention it to them.  Enjoy your car and make it your own, that is what most of us do.  As you go along with the car you are going to find many things that previous owners did to it to make it their own and you will find many things that you want to do to it to make it your own and special to you.  Enjoy your ride.

If you’re looking for parts, post up what you’re looking for and most likely we can help.

I’m starting to make a list. There’s going to be alot. I don’t think I’m going to need too much interior parts. I think I can clean and polish alot of it. The biggest interior stuff is going to be getting all the seats redone. I’m starting to lean towards a rear disc brake conversion for it. I can’t wait for it to quit snowing and being so cold to get started on it

Dennis is correct.

I went with Chinese aftermarket Build Sheets and Protect-O-Plates for my cars while he opted for this dealer-installed steering wheel protector for his ‘71 SS-C …

🤣🤣😂🤣😂

Korey, my '72 started life as as 2 bbl 350, turbo 350 transmission,10 bolt 2:73 posi-traction. When I purchased it, the original motor was long gone, a remanufactured '86 350 was installed with the same intake and 2 bbl carb. I tore the car done to the frame, and fixed whatever needed fixed/ replaced/ rebuilt. That was weekends only, ( holidays, 3 day weekends), for 4 yrs. I worked around an extra 1,000-1,400 hrs of overtime per year, and 50% was put toward the car. It hit the road in June of '08 and went to it's 1st FGMCC meet in Carlisle, Pa. in 2010. Since then, every year, I added or changed something to make it more reliable, shiny, or handle better. It came off the road in 2020 and  went through it's last ( yeah, right) upgrades. 427 BBC, Turbo 400( lower 1 st gear) , 2,400 stall, 12 bolt, 3:73 posi-traction, rear disc brakes, '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee power steering box,UMI Suspension upgrade, with Viking Coil over shocks. Plus, I have cloned it to a '72 Custom (Dennis will like it I'm sure), I even can change from ralley wheels to the Custom hubcaps ( going to Florida for another set of them). So, you see, it doesn't matter what you do with your car, it's yours , and whatever you do to it , it will make you happy. And the more smiles per mile is what makes it right !  I've had mine for 21 years , and still enjoy coming out to the garage and think " what can I do with it today " Enjoy your new project !🙂

Thank you. I couldn’t find anything about the other numbers on that line. How do I figure out what motor and transmission is supposed to be the car

Have you removed the rear seat yet? there might be a build sheet hidden in the seat bottom cushion.

Amen. And by the way I don’t care about cloning. You own it and can do whatever you like but I’ll bet you a box of donuts you won’t try to sell it as a real Custom. That’s the problem I have with cloning. In all honesty I still believe my 70 SS Chevelle is a clone but I have no proof either way and I never cared, it’s a blast to drive

I’ve removed the back seat and looked in the front seat springs and the a pillar on the driver side but no luck yet. I haven’t looked above the radio or above the tank yet

Korey, Another place( wild chance), is inside the back of the front bucket seats. I found a partial one, tiny critters used the rest for a hotel room. Some have even found them in the headliner.

I’ll definitely check them out. I’m planning on tearing it all apart anyway so it’s a good excuse right? Lol

Yes, check both seat backs.  The trim shop that did my interior a couple summers ago located a pristine build sheet in the passenger seat back… only it was for a car other than mine (a few VIN and body numbers off).  Was hoping to have two build sheets, but it’s still a nice piece of documentation for authenticity reasons. On a side note, whoever ordered this car originally had a pretty sweet ride that I wouldn’t mind owning…
