Canuck Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 The price seems about right. Congrats on the sale. If I had an auction like that close to me I would consider that as an option too for my 71 SS. 3 Quote

About $75.00 CAN. take home. Unless you know a good accountant. 2 1 Quote
Marks71 Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 is that decimal in the right spot for the taxes? Quote

Marks71 Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 Not sure how the other states calculate license fees, but here in California where they always have their hand in your pocket, they base them on purchase price. 62k would cost about $6200 in sales tax plus $650-$700 in annual registration fees. 1 1 Quote

NY is the same as far as sales tax, but the yearly registration fee (2 years in a lot of cases) is not quite as bad. Usually under a couple hundred dollars, at least on my vehicles. Naturally, a bit more if you have personalized plates. Quote

When I moved to Ca they nailed me for my Bronco NOT being built with Ca emission equip 😲 There was a class action lawsuit so I got some back, years later of course. Fl hits you with the sales tax when you buy a new vehicle, I think its 6%. My vanity tag on the suburban is roughly $70 for a 2 year renewal. 1 Quote

Don't get me started on gas prices 🙃 Gotta run premium in the Monte and Suburban, $4.36 last fill up, Diesel in SC was $407 and $3.69 in Va, not the bio crap 🙃, GA was $4.59 so I hoped back on the Interstate and drove a few more miles. Still $105 to fill up 1 Quote

Grant MacPherson Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 I know we blend diesel in Canada but I don’t think we blend gas? Is that just a southern states thing? Quote

It has to do with the ambient temperatures and the volatility of the fuel. Colder weather requires a higher volatility to burn the fuel as opposed to the heat of summer. Your fuel suppliers take care of it behind the scenes, unless you lived so far up north that it may not be an issue? Here's a couple results from a quick search, a few others basically say the same thing. https://blog.amsoil.com/the-difference-between-winter-and-summer-blend-gas/?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2LTW2tDyhQMVs0tHAR1hUAAvEAAYASAAEgKZHvD_BwE https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a15339380/the-vapor-rub-summer-versus-winter-gasoline-explained/ Apparently environmental concerns are part of the mix too, as far as vapors. 1 1 1 Quote
RON T Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Not so bad here in Ky on cars over 20 years old. Considered antique. No registration every year, sales tax 6 % of whatever $ amount you and the seller say it sold for. Yearly property taxable value very reasonable on antique cars, for instance some only valued at a few hundred dollars on taxes. Insurance less per 1000 value on antique cars. Cars can be considered a classic at 15 years old for insurance purposes.. needless to say, I won’t be moving at this age to California or NY. Even tho both states are beautiful, I couldn’t afford to live there on a Ky retirement.. 2 Quote
Marks71 Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 That is why so many people plan for and then move out of this state upon retirement. My entire family lives here and we’re a pretty tight knit group, so I’m not going anywhere. Financially I would be better off somewhere else. 3 Quote

cny first gen 71 Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Just went to South Carolina last week gas was highest price in PA. Even NY is cheaper than pa. Gas has gotten crazy. We spent about $600.00 in gas round trip, mind you my truck gets 8.5 mpg towing our camper. 2 Quote
Dtret Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 I was on the interstate yesterday in PA and paid 3.45. 10 miles down the highway in Ohio 3.15. 4 Quote

Fl is the same on purchase /sales tax but we have to register every year or two years. No property tax on vehicles tho 😁 Homeowners insurance is a tad high for some reason 🤣 some news reports are saying a 35% increase this year. 1 Quote
