502ci Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 I have my 01 Monte sitting outside for the past 3 years. It has been under my old "Noah" California (I think it was called) car cover that was for my 72. Anyways I need a new cover and ordered one, my 01 is 195" long so I got a 200" one from a cheap manufacturer (probably my first mistake) and it would not even remotely fit, thought I was gonna tear it trying to put it on. I returned it today. My 72 is around 203+" long, is that about right? My 72's old cover was always baggy on the 01 but served it's purpose. So what I am getting at is those that have covers for their first generation Monte what is the length and also those that have the last generation Monte what is the length of cover you have on it? Also any suggestions on brands is welcome...needs to be outdoor rated though. One last thing...I am only looking for a cover for my 01 but it would be nice if the cover would work on both cars. Quote
willie Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Hey Bill, don't know about the 01 but i have a Noah also for my 87 GN. I put it on the 72 Monte and it fit, a little snug but did fit. The problem was the mirror cut outs were not cut in correct place. Called California Car Covers and they do not sell the covers for the Monte with mirror cut outs. You have to pay extra!! 3 Quote
Marks71 Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 I’ve always used California Cover. For outside use especially, you really want a model specific cover that is form fitting. The generic covers are too baggy and they tend to flap on the paint in the wind. They don’t offer the Noah anymore. As for mirror pockets, Willie, I ordered the pockets and had a person who used to make boat covers sew them on. The pockets came with instructions on how to mark your cover, and a template for cutting. I got 2 for the Monte and 1 for my Camaro. They didn’t charge for the pockets. Then again I had just given them $425 with shipping for their Dustforce cover. Their outdoor covers would be at least $100 more. It cost me $25/pocket to have them sewn on. 5 Quote

Been around since 76. American made also. Out here in California you’re lucky to get 3 years out of an out door cover. The sun and wind shreds them. Quote

Scott S. Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Hey Bill, I bought the "Motor Trend" cover (large car) from Amazon last year for my '70, and it's miles ahead or the cotton/poly one I got the first time. It works on my '04 Monte.... Just need to remember to put the cord on under the car or it winds up in the corner of the yard on a windy day. 2 Quote
Glen Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Both my Montes have California Car Covers on them. Without digging up paperwork or looking through millions of emails, I don’t recall ever seeing an exact length, I just remember searching by make, model, and year. I tried two different varieties (can’t recall the “names” off the top of my head)… the black is softer than the gray, but less dust repellent. I don’t recall seeing mirror pockets as an option at the time I ordered them, but there’s enough slack in them to drape over the mirrors without the risk of breaking them. 5 Quote

502ci Posted May 31, 2024 Author Posted May 31, 2024 Took the plunge and got the top of the line Seal Skin cover for the 01 Monte. I will post a review when I get it and it is on for awhile. 3 Quote
