I want to install a oil pressure gauge with the copper tubing as shown in the previous picture. Not plastic. What does everyone recommend

With that socket , it gives you direct pressure over the threaded port. It should come out easily . I usually have some CRC 336 penetrating  spray before I attempt something like this. I would clean that area of the block really good (brake clean) to get any loose debris out of the way first. Never clean enough for something to drop into that port. You can still use the old sending unit if you want also.

I'll keep the old sending sensor to the idiot light because it still works. I'll figure out the fittings I need to tee off for the new sending unit. With the new fittings can I use Teflon tape and still have a good ground, or does a ground wire still needed from the new gauge?

Teflon tape is generally frowned upon for oil and fuel fittings, mainly because you don't want it to come apart and find its way into the system.

Liquid pipe sealant, with teflon is recommended. Loctite 567 is great stuff, good for all fittings, including stainless (comes in a squeeze tube). Their 565 is good too. Permatex makes similar products.

Always say No to Teflon tape on oil fittings! I've found this crap in oil pumps back in the day.

When adding gauges or other, I always run new wires but thats just me. Vacuum and Grounds will have you chasing your tail sometimes 🤣

Copper all the way for me.

I'm a fan of the copper tubing as well. But after the end snapped at the fitting. I'm going to try using the plastic that originally came with the gauge for the last few inches..... Just for the flexability factor.

Thanks for the information, Joe....

I did look at something like that a few years back, but I've got a bunch of tubing and fittings gathering dust and figured I'd put them to use first. ;)

I keep a spare "3224" and tube cutter in my truck tool box....Had to swap one out at the races one time with my buddys car, not a fan of the plastic, just saying

I'm "iffy" about plastic too.... But I thought I'd give it a shot.
