I don't know about you, but there are very few colors that look bad on FGMC's in my opinion.  I'm not the biggest fan of the '70's stock green (except lime green) on a lot of them but other than that, I'm a big fan of almost every color on an MC.

As I dig into this club more, I am seeing a lot of factory colors I was not aware of.  I'm liking what I'm seeing as either single color; two color paint or two color paint/vinyl.

I think it is because the design is so fabulous and timeless on these cars.  They always look like a million bucks.

What about you?  What is your favorite?  What is your least favorite?

I would be willing to bet that most folks will say their favorite color is the one on their own cars. For me, the black cherry color is my favorite even though my car is Mulsanne blue with a corvette white painted top.

I agree 100 percent on the black cherry, black vinyl top and black bucket interior. Yummy. I’ll bet you can’t find a person that has three Monte’s and doesn’t like any of the three colors. I call them my 70’s bathroom colors. lol.

shadow gray on a hardtop looked awesome, ' im partial to misty turquoise since i was in grammar school and my uncle had a brand new '70  it might have been the start of it all since i said to myself..wow that car is cool!   also two that stand out are Aaron's(canuck)  71 SS color , and Rob peters car since it is so unique...   and of course, the fgmc wears 'triple black' beautifully as well!!

Can't argue with that at all. I won't take offense to the green dis 🤣 I wanted triple black, since all my other vehicles are all black but it wasnt to be. After close to 2 years of searching I had to re-evaulate my priorities 🤣 Happy with triple green, I got all the other options I wanted

The Monte I bought new off a Chevrolet dealer in Jacksonville, FL was Desert Sand.  Apparently it was a rare color because I have only seen one over the past 24 years.  Not that it is a favorite color of mine but I do love the classic look of it.

My favorite two 70 Monte Colors are Black Cherry and Shadow Gray but I do love the color of my Astro Blue/Classic White original Two Tone.  For 71, I think my favorite color is the Classic Copper.  For 72, I don't really have a favorite.

Like others have said, the First Generation Monte Carlo looks very dressy in any color

my Favorite:   Black, blue, forest green, copper, white, sorry fellow buddies but I just don't do red. love it on the girls! but not on cars or bikes.   some farm equipment, and barns. BUT if the truth be known First Generation Monte Carlo's look great in any color.  I could pass any lie detector test on that last sentence.

I also think they look great in almost any color!!  The people that know me well know what color i am not a fan of, i won't say as i don't want to hurt anyone.  My favorites are the Black, Blues, Black Cherry, and the Shadow grey!!!   And like Steve i will take that lie detector test to prove if i have to!!!  LOL

I've been an MC lover for 28 years but I think I've been living under a rock.  I've seen the standard blues, green (dark and light), and black in the flesh.  However, I've just recently looked through the actual stock colors listed on this website and others and it makes a difference when you actually see them on the cars.  As I said, I like vinyl but I didn't realize that you could get so many options in two-tone paint also.

A friend of mine has one in the Desert Gold ('72) with the light tan/beige top.  Looks really nice!

The '71 I just bought in triple green (cottonwood green) was purchased with the intention of doing a full color change to blue.  However, now that I'm seeing some on the forum in the lime green and black combo, that is really nice and much easier to keep original color schemes.  I think the cottonwood or green mist (?) might look good to.  I think I'm just used to seeing these Monte's in tired old green paint and they always reminded me of baby food!  I am changing my palette!

I had a plan to re-do my original '70 in orange, maybe with black racing stripes or black vinyl.  I'm thinking bright Chevy engine orange.  I did a 1/25 scale model in that color and I'm not sure that I'm sold.  I love orange but maybe that car would be too much in orange.  The more subtle colors maybe look nicer.  Maybe that is why red is not a favorite.  Too much car for those bright colors.

Thoughts?

72 had Mohave Gold (code 63), which looks good with a tan top. Not quite as bold as straight Orange I guess. Not too common a color either, so it's unlikely you'll find a whole bunch of them at the same car show.

love oranges, golds. love em all. but if there is a color scheme that makes this man want to 🤮  it would be the Latin themes, paint with bizarre pinstripe, graphics, lowrider style. just not attractive. but eye of the beholder. just don't be offended when I say yuck....

Agreed.   To each their own, but not my style either.

Shadow Grey was my first choice. Check! Silver was the alternate.  Whichever was found first in an acceptable condition and with documentation got the nod. I was in the right place at the right time with the ‘70 in regards to how well optioned she is/was.

Black Cherry, Lime Green Poly* (Check!) and Mulsanne Blue round out the Top Five.

But who am I kidding?  I’d LOVE a triple black SS. Or a Cranberry Red…

* while the vinyl top on my ‘71 appears black in most photos, it’s actually Jade Green, as is the interior.  So triple green like yours, Nate. Just a different triple green.

Here’s the Spring green on the 72 and the Champagne Gold on the 70. Both will have the black vinyl tops. I threw in a picture of my brothers el Camino for the orange shot.

I like a lot of colors, but I would say blue in different shades is my favorite. I had a 1981 Camaro that I bought new that was royal blue, a 1967 Impala and my current 1971 Monte Carlo. It has the best paint job of any of the classic colors that I've had.

Black cherry, triple black, blue, in that order. Although, they look great in any color. There’s a member coming to the eastern meet this year that has a beautiful green one. Absolute breathtaking!.

For some reason, I remember the soap being darker… I guess not.  So the direction I was gonna take to bust your stones will have to wait … for now 😂

I prefer some of the unique colours that show off the body lines. The colour is what drew me to both Montes I have.

1970 Misty Turquoise with white vinyl top

Other favourites in 1970 are Black Cherry and Astro Blue.
