Quadrajet question

How many days after shutting the engine off engine off, before you have to prime your carb for a cold start?

A few day's maybe a week. My choke doesn't close all the way because of aftermarket intake manifold. But yes it is a q-jet.

After a few days it takes a while cranking to get the fuel to the carb on both of mine. I never used to have that issue on my 1970 for the first 25 years but after an accountant rebuilt the carb it now has the issue. I may have disturbed the plugs at the bottom causing the fuel to slowly leak out but not sure.

Mine will start right up if under 3-5 days. Seems like if its over a week/10 days I have to crank it for 4-5 seconds. My choke works great, but have had that car apart 10 plus times trying to get it all dialed in.  The leak at the fuel filter or line to fuel filter was  the most aggravating.  Once I go it, I just leave it alone ha

Both mine start up fine within the 3 to 5 day set. Good old carburation!

A more humid/cooler climate won't dry out the bowls as quickly.

The downside to beer is that it's a lower octane and produces higher "emissions"....

It can also freeze up if it's consumed quickly......

Seems like with any mechanical fuel pump you have " leak down " effect. No matter how long before cold starts, a couple of pedal stomps usually takes care it. If your choke is properly set , it might kick back to let extra fuel in instead of air. I'd pull air cleaner top off before I start it ,push throttle down 1 time , and then see if the choke has come down over the air intake.Should be at about 15-20 degrees shut. If it hasn't, then it needs adjustment.Remember cold starts only. Another good way to see if you're choke is working, get a plastic bag of ice( ziploc), place it on your choke canister ( black cap on passenger side) of carb. Let it set there for 3-5 minutes, press down on throttle, and look to see if flap closes.If it closes, no worries, it's working. Sometimes these need adjustment because it's a wound spring style inside and temperature weakens it after time. Hope this helps.

Montelishi only runs when it's warm..... doesn't like to hot either. 

The last owner removed the choke, so the "couple quick pumps" usually works if she's sat for more than 3 days.

After a week I add an once to the fuel bowl, 1 pump to set the choke and fires right up.  I hate cranking till fuel gets there
