Kevin Wiles Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 on a 1970 350/300 Ok I’m NOT talking about the filter that mounts inside the carb, I’m talking about the big tin can looking filter that is mounted on the metal line beween the pump and the carb, sort of behind the alternator. O’Reilly Auto parts has no such listing as a filter like this for my car. I’m pretty sure its stock but wanted to check here. I need any information on this filter. Thanks.
Mr70Monte Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Kevin, only '70 models with a/c used this filter. they are hard to find, if you do find one, be ready to pay a good penny for it. the original AC part number is GF-432 search GF432 on ebay P.S. I forgot that they repo this filter now, google GF432
Kevin Wiles Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 big jim, the gf432 has screw in's on both ends and plus one return exit so that one is not really a direct replacement. heres a pic
Big Jim Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Oh ok. I will ship your package in the morning. Exhaust Shields that is.
Jared Richey Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 That dang Filter sure is pricey enough! Geez, $40 at the link I clicked on searching google.
Big Jim Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Even more so on Ebay. The cheapest I could find there was $49.00
FamilyMan Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 what happens if the hose that is supposed to connect to the filter is plugged? Is that a return line or a vent line?
Mr70Monte Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 If my memory is correct, there is only a very small pin hole where the hose connects to the filter, it is a return line to the gas tank....supposed to help against vapor locking by returning a very small amont of gas back to the tank.
