I have original bucket seats in my 1970 Monte. I need to replace them with something newer. I have neck issues. I cannot drive the car for any period of time without pain. I Need to find something more comfortable. I need a newer style seat with a tall back. I have a 2006 Monte Carlo those seats are very comfortable, but if anybody’s got some ideas on where to pick some up please let me know.

I realize this may be an unconventional approach but go to a salvage yard that caters to newer cars. You can sit in a bunch of different makes and models and get a feel for the seats. Anything you purchase will probably have to be reconfigured at the tracks and the mounting points. Don’t pass by the small cars either a lot of them have very comfortable and supportive seats. I have a 13 Cruze and I really like the seats in that for being a relatively low dollar car.

I installed ProCar scat 90 seats in mine due to the distances I drive it. More hip support, a bit taller, and they recline fully if the need for some rest and relaxation occurs. ProCar has several different seats and the corresponding brackets to install them. I will say that I had to modify the brackets slightly in order to get everything to fit properly.

Hi John

A while back I read an artical about using Acura seat.... They were supposedly a pretty good fit into the 70-72's.

Like Dennis mentioned, take a look at a wreckers and see what feels right.

Checking salvage yard sounds like a good idea. I don’t think it’s unconventional. I think it makes common sense to be able to sit in a seat before you buy it to see what it feels like. Buying seats simply by looking at a picture or off the Internet is a gamble. I’m sure with some modification I can make them fit.

Ya but imagine the looks on the faces at the counter when you tell them that you don’t want to buy nothing but just sit in cars all day.  lol. 😂

Have them bolstered. I ama amazed at the difference in a bolstered original bucket seat vs non bolstered.

They are probably worn out also which doesn't help. Problem is you'll spend $3k restoring your original seats

They have a setup that adds seat foam to the sides of the top and bottom seat. Makes a real big difference in comfort, but barely noticeable, unless you're looking for it (or already have them yourself).

Here's their catalog (my car's interior is actually on the cover):

I have the TMI foam kit in my Vista cruiser. The red interior 70 SS I built had it too.

My next endeavor on my white 70 Monte will be legendary version of the bolstered
