So in speaking with Bob 71, he convinced me to put a vacuum pump in for my brake booster. With the cam I put in there isn't much vacuum produced by the engine. My brake pedal was not great. Seemed stiff when hitting the brakes. I appreciate Bob giving me the advice to install the vacuum pump. My brake pedal feels great now. I feel like I have much better braking power with not as much effort. If anyone is debating this, don't hesitate. I installed in in the fender well on the driver's side. Ran the hose behind the fender as well as the wiring. It fit well and is a clean look. To be honest it is concealed well. If you didn't know what you were looking at you wouldn't notice it at all. It is a touch noisy but I think that's just because it's new. I bet after a short time I won't hear it at all. Again, thanks to Bob 71 for the advice.

Not showing here. Can you post the part number and where you bought it ? That would be great.

I installed the vacuum pump from Summit racing. It is a touch loud. I currently don't mind.  SUM-760152 is the part number.  I understand the Leed pump is a quieter unit.  They also sell that at Summit. I didn't get that one first because I didn't know how the pump would or would not work. If my Summit unit fails I would try the Leed pump next

Tom how did you mount it? Is it on some kind of rubber insulators or just metal to metal?

There are rubber insulators on the mounting block. I added more though. Wanted to make sure it didn't vibrate.

We too had the same issue, with the .730 lift , we had no vacuum. Added the vacuum pump in the very same location as you did Tom and also doubled the rubber mounts. No further issues !

I had the same issue with my 1970 Monte. thats the car that I had the Lemon Squad inspect. The Inspector never road tested and lied on the inspection. I had to do the same thing, add a vacuum pump. The best pump is a Rotory Vane pump made by Leeds.

I have heard the Leeds is the best. Not much difference in the price. I would have sprung for the difference if I know how much better the pedal is. I can say its a whole new world. I may change it out down the road

I have 2 of the Leeds pumps, no problem so far.

There's no comparison between the piston type and the rotory vane pump no noise at all.

Back in the mid '80's G.M. had a factory vacuum pump for the brakes in a couple models..... Namely the Olds Vista Cruiser (and variations of it) the Buick G.N./T-Type, and some versions of the P.O.S. and taxi Impalas.  I'm not 100 % sure, but it looked like it was a "bolt in" for where the vacuum pot mounted.

The motor was fairly quiet, but when the pump failed there wasn't much in the way of getting it repaired back then.

I just gotta see your set up.I might just need this with the new big block. I still have the old Jeg's setup on mine. I'm going to use it if I need too. I thought I had seen it on Joe's Monte.

Mine is hidden under the driver side fender, mounted on that C-channel brace that also attaches to the inner fender well.

I removed it from the original plastic case too.
