RON T Posted May 15 Author Posted May 15 ⛔️ ⚠️ ‼️. 🚑 👮. WARNING , yes heads up.. There is an indoor swimming pool at our host hotel, if it’s a little cool 🆒 next week, the pool is heated of course. However, I have to warn you that there may be a man in speedos in the pool early in the mornings or late in the evenings.. this man showed up in Carlisle PA at the 2024 Eastern meet . If you happen to see this man in Speedos, take a picture and we will call law enforcement and have him removed , or fined $ for absolutely disgusting indecent exposure!🤣😂. So, keep you eye pealed 🍌, while in the pool area… 1 5 1 Quote

RON T Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 Several of our members that are attending the meet have indicated they have questions regarding restoration of their monties, some are engine questions, some are electrical, some are body and frame questions.. There will be some of the most knowledgeable people in the area of first generation Monte Carlo’s at our meet this year, so we are going to anticipate a time during the meet for these people to gather and ask their questions .. .. could be during the day or during the one of our bench racing times… whichever is more convenient.. it would help if your not bringing your Monte Carlo , and have a few questions , to bring pictures of your project ..Ron… 6 Quote

It was great and we had some very good questions from our members and if I recall correctly nobody stumped us. rob Quote
Rob Peters Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Just a note, I will be bringing my Left Center Right game to be played during bench racing. I will also be donating a Left Center Right game to be given away as either a door prize or a game prize. rob Quote

We've all been there "ask me how I know" 🤣 2 with all the experience here there are many different options as well as knowledge. One of my favorite comments from RoadKill TV, we show you the wrong way to do the right thing 🤣 2 Quote
patman Posted May 17 Posted May 17 So I see that a tornado hit Somerset last night, is that going to affect the meet? My prayers go out to all affected 🙏🏻 1 Quote
Dtret Posted May 17 Posted May 17 We were supposed to get hit hard the last two nights in Cincinnati. I guess the storm split. We didn’t even get rain. I hope everything is ok where ever the storm hit. Quote

My prayers go out to all affected 🙏🏻 Ron texted me a little bit ago regarding the tornado. As of now, there isn't much info either way regarding the situation. It's a bit too soon to know what is happening, but we'll keep everyone updated as time goes on. In the mean time, I'm sure everyone there is doing everything humanly possible to aid those affected. Right now I just saw 14-16 lives lost due to the storms, so hopefully the list does not grow larger from there. Terrible news... 2 3 Quote
Rob Peters Posted May 17 Posted May 17 I have been in steady contact with Ron all morning. As of right now the main road in front of the hotel is closed and there is no power or phone service. Ron and I have been scanning Facebook for images. I have PM'ed several people on fb from the area to see if any of them can get close enough to the hotel to see if it is damaged. Like Joe said, you will know when we know. rob 3 Quote
RON T Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 Reports our of our host city Somerset are still sketchy at best.. I am in touch with several people in that area and will advise FGMCC officers as soon as any reports are verified.. Ron T… 2 3 Quote
jft69z Posted May 17 Posted May 17 As of this point, the FGMCC Kentucky meet scheduled for this week, has unfortunately been cancelled due to the tragic events at Somerset. Some reports had mentioned the hotel and restaurant were damaged, other reports say different. At this point, with the uncertainty of power restoration, damage to venues, and everyone's safety in mind, we decided to pull the plug. So, we're going to have to shift gears a little and adapt to the current circumstances. First: Please cancel your hotel reservations for the Somerset hotel, to ensure you don't get charged. Ron mentioned that the hotel itself hasn't been able to receive phone calls, so our suggestion is to try to do it online with your confirmation number. Rob is also going to reach out to the hotel contact that had the Club contract and cancel globally, but... it's still a good idea to do it on your own as a safeguard. If there are any troubles, reach out and we'll help get it done. Second: We're going to swing some of the things to the Carlisle meet in June instead. Normally, Carlisle would have been considered a 'mini-meet', but since we already had the award plaques for the member car judging already done for Somerset, we're going to do that at Carlisle instead. Yeah, the location and dates are going to be wrong, but we didn't plan for a tornado either. We want to thank Ron for the great job he did, and all the effort he put into the meet to make it a success for everyone. He's devastated that this situation has arisen, and unfortunately won't be able to make it to Carlisle either, to make matters worse. Also, thanks go to Rob for the added work it's going to take to swing some of the stuff to Carlisle. He has already contacted the Carlisle Hotel contact to try and secure more rooms, and also get a later cutoff date to reserve a room there. If there's a chance that anyone can swing their plans to Carlisle instead of Kentucky, you won't be disappointed. If there's anything we can do to help, please reach out. We will update with any more information as it becomes available. Thoughts & prayers to the people and first responders impacted in Kentucky as well. Joe T 2 4 Quote

cooter Posted May 17 Posted May 17 I just canceled using my holiday inn account. I’m a member of IHG so it was an easy step. If anyone is an IHG member they can cancel that way. Used the “to edit” link and it allowed her to cancel. 2 Quote
