Jared Richey Posted April 1 Posted April 1 The biggest member attendance in the South was Charlotte in 2009, this is definitely doing to get close and hopefully it beats it! I will Never forget that 100+ degrees weekend. It was like Carlisle last year, Brutal and we were on new Black Asphalt as they had just built Zmax Dragway back then. Club Founder Kevin Wiles made the Hot Rod Magazine with his Coke Machine Bobby Allison replica. Good times! Looking forward to more memories this year. Ron is doing a great Job. 7 1 Quote
RON T Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Good morning, as I’m doing this update early in the morning,, it’s a workday for me but I wanted to share some things, Good news early this morning as I had sent some emails out to prospective club members to attend our Somerset meet. I proud to announce that two more members have registered to attend in Somerset , I’ll be posting their names this evening when I arrive home from work.. this brings the total to 31.. I’m kinda curious as to how many attended that eastern meet in charlotte nc in 2009 .. also, for those new first time attendees, as promised, a brief explanation of ‘ bench racing. “.. this is an activity we typically do in the evening at the hotel parking lot after a long day of other functions.. we sit usually in a circle in the lot where our cars are located and share tales and stories about anything and especially about our cars. In essence , getting to know your fellow members and sharing some good times . Good friendships are made during this period and you don’t want to miss this activity. So, be sure to bring along a lawn chair. But if you get up out of it, don’t be suprised if someone sits in it. All in fun 🤩.. I will be sharing some parking instructions in a later post . Please check out these updates regularly, The Eastern meet isn’t but a very few weeks away.. Ron T… 4 1 1 Quote
Rob Peters Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Just an added notification. Regarding our hotel. I had arranged our original hotel contract and when I saw we were running out of rooms I contacted them. They were able add 10 rooms to our original block of rooms. The added rooms are are all King rooms. The only issue with these 10 rooms is 3 of them are King "SUITES". So, if you make a reservation for one of these King rooms make sure you specify you don't want one of these "SUITES" (unless you actually want a SUITE) because the King Suites will be $20.00 more per night. rob 3 Quote
RON T Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Thanks Rob, . We probably have 7 rooms left , I’ll be checking with the host hotel in person in a few days.. we compare registrations . Their list and mine..to me 20$ is a small price to pay for an upgrade to a king suite.. . That’s still a good discounted price you arranged for our members, hope we fill them all!!! Quote
RON T Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 ************IMPORTANT !!!!!******** first , my apologies for so many updates , but the meet is drawing near. This is an important one so pass around if possible.. I will also put a copy in you packets.. With a larger number of members attending this year , and more parking necessary, The host hotel has decided to assign numbered parking spots for your monties.. you will be assigned a parking spot when you sign in at the hotel.. That’s no problem, kinda expected that . We will be separated from the hotel general public .. we do not have the whole hotel reserved, so there will be other customers there. Especially on Friday and Saturday nights … trailers will need to be parked in a separate area adjacent and close to the hotel.. I’ve already arranged this with the owner of the property.. Now, what I’m asking is, those of you that are not bringing a Monte , please get your assigned Monte parking spot when you sign in at the hotel, even tho you drove something else. We may need the space for our bench racing in the evenings.. you can park the vehicle you drove in the regular parking or in trailer parking.. there’s only 3-4 that are not bringing Monte Carlo’s.. attention. Ms Calley Anne, please get your assigned parking number for your 3 rd gen as you will be parking in our assigned area, and also with us Saturday downtown… For those members staying two to a room, please tell hotel when you check in that you have two Monte Carlo’s.. that way each of you will have a spot. To condense all of this gibberish , simply, if you rented a room, get assigned a Monte Carlo parking spot at check in :)… 6 1 Quote

RON T Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 Was planning on a trip to Somerset, early this week, but with all this rain I must wast till the end of the week, if possible even then.. to set up and check on some things. By the end of May in our meet timeframe all will be well , probably have a dry summer too.. so everything is A OK ✅… they got less rain in south Ky than western or central regions of the state. Somerset is southern Ky. 👍 5 1 Quote

RON T Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 I know this goes without saying, but just a reminder, the host hotel and club pricing are for FGMCC members only, spouses and guest. The hotel information is listed in member only section for that purpose.. please do not share . I will be comparing members names with the hotel mgr s list this week. This is to protect our club rooms and privacy.. thanks .. Ron T.. 4 3 Quote

RON T Posted April 10 Author Posted April 10 My wife and I drove to Somerset today, to finalize some Eastern meet things. Had a great day!. Beautiful weather for traveling and turned out to be a very productive day. Very much worth the trip. Spoke with President and board member’s of Somernites cruise , had a wonderful informal meeting. Got some small tidbits worked out perfectly for our Friday Night Block party 🎉 and also Saturday at the cruise. Then we stopped to see and talk to the manager at the host hotel, … She was very cordial and helpful about working some things out about parking, breakfast, room availability and one other big big important issue I was concerned about with the number of people we have attending. There is absolutely no no problem whatsoever now with any of those so please sign members up to attend or direct them to me.. I’ll go over those details later.. They are very grateful to have us stay at their hotel … We need more members to sign up, discounts for the rooms still expire in 11 days from today.. We also visited another potential photo shoot spot and also another activity location.. Had a nice steak dinner at Reno’s to celebrate my birthday which was last month.. FYI . The local price of gasoline today in Somerset was 2.79$ The lunch special price for my sirloin tips dinner was only 10$.. excluding my drink of course.. This is gonna be a great time to be with your FGMCC friends , make new ones and just sit back and relax!😎 Come hang out with us in Somerset , Ky.. 👍 Ron T.. 5 1 Quote
